Transport Secretary Chris Grayling arrives six minutes late for his own conference speech
His late arrival to the stage sparked a series of jokes on social media given the timetabling crisis on Northern Rail and Thameslink this summer

Transport Secretary Chris Grayling faced fresh humiliation yesterday ... after arriving six minutes late for his speech.
Announcing new rail compensation plans, the under-fire Cabinet Minister was delayed by the morning’s speakers over-running.
His late arrival to the stage sparked a series of jokes on social media given the timetabling crisis on Northern Rail and Thameslink this summer.
Labour’s Shadow Education Secretary Angela Rayner openly mocked the Tory.
Tory backbencher Tim Loughton took to Twitter to joke: “There’ll be another one along in a minute.
The Transport Secretary admitted the Government had more to do on the railways, with the network “creaking” under the weight of so many passengers.
But he announced plans to speed up customer redress – by mandating train companies to offer “once click” compensation rather than forcing passengers to fill out endless forms.

He said: “I want the railways to work better for customers. As Conservatives in Government we are spending more on rail than any Government in modern times.
“But after a decade under Labour when things stood still, we have much ground to catch up.”
