"The bacon inside was pink and crawling with bugs, it was disgusting.

"It was not normal. I was terrified to touch it."

The mum-of-two, of Bricktown, New Jersey, USA, had stopped by a drive-thru Dunkin' Donuts in Lakewood, New Jersey, to grab a quick breakfast.

After they got home, Krystle took a bite from the croissant and a worm allegedly fell from her lip onto the Dunkin' Donuts wrapper.

She claims there were six or seven insects and worms inside and that the bacon was raw and pink.

"I was most worried about the baby because he had eaten his whole sandwich," Krystle said.

"He seems OK so far, but I'm going to take him to the doctor to get an anti-parasite pill just in case."

She added: "The owner offered me free food and said they would investigate it, but they didn't even give me a refund.

"If they're not going to be sanitary, they shouldn't sell it.

"I'm never eating Dunkin' Donuts again in my life - I don't even want to eat out anymore.

"This is why America is sick."

Dunkin' Donuts said in a comment on Friday: "We take matters such as this very seriously.

"Upon learning of the complaint, we immediately dispatched a certified Operations Manager from Dunkin' to the store to confirm all food safety and quality standards are being followed.

"The franchisee who owns and operates the store has confirmed he has met with the guest to resolve the matter and apologise for the poor experience."
