Sajid Javid pledged £20million to youth funds that work to prevent kids from getting involved in violent crime

SAJID JAVID vowed to prevent more kids being drawn into serious violence as he granted £20million to new youth funds.
The Home Secretary unveiled 29 ‘Early Intervention’ programmes which would be sharing the taxpayer cash over the next two years.
It came after a horrific week where the brutal stabbing of a 16-year-old in south London on Monday took the total number of murders in the capital this year to 119.
Mr Javid said the new projects involved schemes which include work with children and young people “at risk of criminal involvement” as well as organisations safeguarding vulnerable kids.
The Home Secretary said: “As well as taking immediate action to curb knife crime, we need a longer-term approach to prevent our young people from getting drawn into a life of crime in the first place.”
“This money will fund a range of projects that focus on diverting vulnerable youngsters and those who have already offended away from crime.”
