BBC must listen to David Dimbleby and axe their number of high-earning staff

Mad Auntie
FEW know the BBC better than David Dimbleby — so when he says Auntie has got out of control, he’s worth listening to.
The Corporation has become a bloated, bureaucratic beast, packed full of middle-managers with titles like “identity architect”.
Despite a commitment to reduce the number of staff earning £150,000 by 20 per cent, the number actually rose.
Rather than focusing on its key mission, it has branched out to hoover up news from hard-working local papers — many going bust as a result — and apparently thinks it needs to take on YouTube and the tech giants.
Even at Christmas, many families will switch off the Beeb’s repeats and turn to commercial competitors — whilst still, of course, having to pay the Licence Fee.
The Beeb’s New Year Resolution should be to slim down, and fast.

SO now Jeremy Corbyn is coming after your Christmases.
New research revealing the cost of the green levies he wants to impose on hard-pressed Brits should be a wake-up call for all those considering voting for this unreconstructed Marxist.
Ed Miliband, back in his days as Energy Secretary, introduced plenty of green taxes that have hit families hard, but it would be only a warm-up act for Corbyn and his money-grabbing lieutenant John McDonnell.
A braver Chancellor than Philip Hammond would not just limit these eco-taxes but slash them, and let bridging technology like fracking cover the gap until renewable energy becomes more affordable for ordinary Brits.
We won’t hold our breath.
A flying shame
WE’RE still no closer to knowing who was responsible for the chaos at Gatwick.
It’s clear the Department for Transport were not remotely prepared. And now it appears as if the police have made a quite colossal error in arresting an innocent couple.
We’re now told that there might not have been a drone at all.
What is going on? Are we completely incapable of protecting our airfields?
It is staggering — and anybody using our airports deserves an answer.
