Prince Charles and Camilla’s nephew Ben Elliot is hoping to become a Tory MP
The 43-year-old was recently accepted onto the Conservatives' approved list of candidates, allowing him to stand in any seats that come available

THE Duchess of Cornwall’s nephew Ben Elliot is mounting a bid to become a Tory MP, The Sun can reveal.
The 43-year-old entrepreneur and philanthropist has been appointed the Government’s first Food Waste Champion.
He has been tasked by Environment Secretary Michael Gove to draw up a strategy to end the scandal that currently sees 10.2million tonnes of food unnecessarily thrown away every year.
It has also emerged that Mr Elliot was recently accepted onto the Conservatives’ officially approved list of candidates.
That allows the well-connected businessman – who founded the global concierge service Quintessentially - to apply to stand in any seats that come available.
Mr Elliot’s appointment continues his uncle Prince Charles’s strong links with environmental causes.
Mr Gove said last night: “Food waste is an economic, environmental and moral scandal.
We must end it.
“That’s why I am delighted Ben Elliot is taking up this position and know he will bring the enthusiasm and skills this important role needs.”
Mr Elliot, who campaigns with charities against food poverty, added: “Whilst families all over the country struggle to put food on the table and children still go to school each day with empty stomachs, there continues to be an unforgivable amount of food waste which is both morally deplorable and largely avoidable.

“As a nation, we need to stop this excessive waste and ensure that surplus food finds its way to people in our society who need it most, and not let it get thrown away and go to landfill.”
The government has set a bold target to see all food waste being buried in landfill eliminated by 2030.
Ben Elliot’s mother Sonia is Camilla’s sister and his wife is former rock star Steve Winwood’s daughter.
