THE former First Lady of the United States of America and Barack Obama's wife is stepping into the limelight from her husband's shadow.
After seeing her other half through two tough terms as president, Michelle has made telling revelations in her new book Becoming Michelle Obama.
Who is Michelle Obama?
Michelle LaVaughn Robinson was born on January 17th 1964 in Chicago, Illinois, USA.
She was the daughter of a homemaker and a water purification plant worker.
She studied sociology and African American studies at Princeton University before attending Harvard Law School.
While working at a law firm in Chicago in 1989, she met Barack Obama, who had been hired as a summer associate.
In 1992, the couple were married.
From 1992 to 1993 Michelle was involved in a leadership-training program for young adults.
After Barack announced his candidacy for the 2008 Democratic presidential nomination, Michelle took a prominent role in his campaign, despite managing their family life and two daughters.
As First Lady, Michelle was involved in various causes, including supporting military families and ending childhood obesity.
What is her book Becoming about?
After Barack's term ended in 2017, Michelle kept a relatively low public profile.
But in 2018 she released her autobiography Becoming, which garnered much attention.
Although the book largely avoided politics, her criticism of Trump drew particular bounds after she claimed he endangered her family with his role in the 'birther' conspiracy.
The inspirational memoir is currently number 1 on Amazon's list of best-selling books.
