Charles Bronson launches legal challenge over ‘inhumane conditions’ in his prison cell
BRITAIN’S toughest prisoner Charles Bronson has begun a legal challenge saying he was kept in “inhumane conditions” for more than a year.
The 66-year-old was in a stripped-down cell for 23 hours a day accused of assaulting a jail governor.
He was cleared in November and moved from the supervision centre at Durham’s Frankland prison to Woodhill jail, Bucks, on Wednesday.
Pal Rod Harrison, who was best man at Salvador’s ill-fated wedding to Paula Williamson in November 2017, said Charlie was ‘delighted’ with the move - but that he is now seeking legal redress after being held in conditions which he says breach the Human Rights Act.
Writing online this weekend, Mr Harrison said Salvador was moved on February 20 - and is now ‘Home, Sweet Home’.
He said: “Charlie moved to Woodhill (on Feb 20). He had a good journey down and has settled in well.
“Just spoke to Charlie - he's settled in well at Woodhill. He has a telly, kettle, his Dab Radio, table, chair, a good bed and a window that opens.

“There is a small gym on the unit and dip bars on the yard."
And in an open letter published at the weekend, Mr Harrison said Salvador's lawyers, Swain & Co, were challenging the conditions in which he was held in a judicial review.
In the letter, Salvador says “I've gone a whole year without a table and a chair, that's inhumane on its own. I've not got a toilet seat or a lid - that's inhumane.
"Most of my food is put through my cell door feeding me like a rabbit in a hatch. It's like doing time in the 1960s/70s.
"I can't sleep on the bed as it gives me a bad back due to metal slats on it so I sleep on the floor on a mattress.

"Prison law says I'm allowed a TV, but I've been denied a TV for a whole year because I've got no electric. They are going against their own protocol.
"I'm in my cell at least 23 hours per day with only my art to pass the time. I've been singled out and treated differently from other prisoners."
He has been in jail almost continuously since 1974 for violent crimes.
