Prince Andrew must front up about his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein — the Royal Family’s reputation is at stake

Open up, Andy
PRINCE Andrew needs to front up about his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein — because the reputation of The Firm is at stake.
Nobody is accusing him of any wrongdoing. But his statement over the weekend still left plenty of questions to answer, not least why he continued to pal up with Epstein even after the tycoon was locked up for a year for soliciting an underage prostitute.
The Royal Family has been a rock of stability in British life for centuries, and while its members are — obviously — unelected, they are held to a higher standard. Prince Andrew’s explanation, such as it was, didn’t meet that bar.
And in it, he also blamed the media; an increasingly easy way for public figures to attempt to dodge legitimate questions.
The truth is if it wasn’t for the media, we wouldn’t know anything at all about the Prince’s relationship with Epstein; a matter of profound public interest.
If reports are correct that the Duke of York will help police with their inquiries, then good on him. The public deserve to hear from him, too. A sit-down interview wouldn’t be the worst idea.
The only way to put this sorry saga to bed, for the Royal Family as a whole, is for Prince Andrew to accept that he does have questions to answer. Sunlight is still the best disinfectant.
