BORIS Johnson has got his Brexit band back together today to crush the Nigel Farage threat and squeeze the Leave vote on December 12.

The PM appeared alongside fellow Vote Leave veterans Michael Gove and Labour's Gisela Stuart to make a direct appeal to Brexiteers to back the Conservatives in the election.

He has set out his bold Brexit roadmap for delivering on the result of the 2016 referendum this morning, so people can finally get the change that they voted for three years ago.

With the latest polls suggesting the Tories are being squeezed by the Brexit Party vote in some key marginals, it is a direct appeal to Leavers that a vote for Boris is the only way to secure our EU exit.

He insisted that "no other party can deliver change" - except the Conservatives.

The PM pledged that a Conservative majority government would take immediate steps to get Brexit done by 31 January 2020 by bringing back his Brexit Bill straight away.

And he said that the benefits of Brexit need to be realised by 1 January 2021 - a clear indication that he won't be extending the transition period past the end of December 2020.

"We have a great deal, it allows us to come out on January 31," he said this morning.

"We are going to deliver Brexit.

"I have every confidence we can do a great free trade deal, not just with the EU but other countries around the world."

Boris has promised today:

  • To introduce a new state aid regime to save firms like British Steel when they are in trouble
  • To back British business with new schemed to boost the local economy and small firms
  • To scrap the tampon tax
  • To deliver for farmers by leaving the Common Agricultural Policy and promote a 'buy British' rule for public bodies

"This is the change people voted for in 2016," he insisted. "It’s high time to deliver it."

Ms Stuart, the fourth former Labour MP who is now backing the PM, said she would not be voting for Jeremy Corbyn in the election, and made a direct appeal for Labour backers to support the Tories instead.

She said this morning: "This is no longer the Labour Party that I and many thousands have joined.

"Leave voters have a clear choice at this election - put Brexit at risk with Jeremy Corbyn, or get Brexit done with Boris Johnson.

She said it was "the best option for all those who like me still share Labour’s traditional values but who voted to Leave and who want certainty and an end to the stagnation, division and delay."

In a remarkable intervention from a senior Labour figure, Ms Stuart wrote in The Sun today: “Boris Johnson’s Conservatives represent the best way forward for traditional Labour voters like me and the best way to heal the country.”

Mr Gove added: "People voted for change, but three and half years on, that change has – still – not been delivered.

"Politicians have failed to honour the biggest vote for change ever seen in this country.

"That will forever be a stain on the last parliament – and it should prod the conscience of the next.

"Put simply, a vote for any party other than the Conservatives is a vote against change."

Boris confirmed that No Deal planning will be kept "in a state of readiness" and won't be stood down - telling voters that a No Deal exit was still possible.

And he insisted he was confident that Britain can get a great trade deal with the EU after we leave.
