Winston Churchill’s grandson tells Tory MP to ‘f*** off you c***’ in fallout over EU referendum
Sir Nicholas Soames tried to make light of the exchange suggesting 'gulls eggs at dawn'
SIR Winston Churchill’s grandson launched a foul-mouthed rant at a fellow Tory MP in a spectacular fallout over Europe.
Brexit-backing MP James Cleverly approached Sir Nicholas Soames in a House of Commons dining room to applaud the veteran MPs call for unity following the EU referendum and an end to personal attacks.
Grandson of Churchill, Sir Nicholas Soames tore into his Tory colleague in a tearoom
But pro-EU Sir Nicholas, grandson of former PM Churchill, unleased an astonishing four-letter assault on the newly elected MP telling him to: “F*** off you c***.”
Responding to reports of his latest outburst, Sir Nicholas told the Sunday Times he was “not sure I know anyone called Cleverly... stuff that goes on inside the dining room and tea room is private” and told the reporter to “bugger off”.
The exchange exposes tensions between Tory MPs over the EU debate, with an almost even split among the parliamentary party over the EU debate.
Some Brexit campaigners have suggested David Cameron will struggle to survive as party leader even if voters choose to stay in the EU on June 23.
Pro-EU Tory grandee Ken Clarke said the PM “wouldn’t last 30 seconds if he lost the referendum”.
Yesterday Mr Cleverly denied being the source of the leak in a playful Twitter exchange with the former defence minister.
The Braintree MP tweeted: “To be honest, most people call me that know me well.”
Sir Nicholas tried to laugh off the exchange calling it a “beautiful and deeply meaningful conversation” and suggested they meet for “gulls eggs at dawn old boys cocktails of your choice”.
Mr Cleverly replied: “Pink gins until one of us can’t stand.”
