Cruel vandals mock Army veteran over death of his son by spray painting black cross and “RIP” on his window

CRUEL vandals mocked an Army veteran over the death of his son by spray painting a black cross and the letters “RIP” on his bedroom window.
William Walker, 62, revealed the graffiti louts also trashed his back garden as they terrorised him for two days.
Cops launched a probe after the grief-stricken dad was targeted with the taunts about his son Gary, who died aged 21 in an accident in 2005. William, who lives alone in South Queensferry, West Lothian, said: “It made me feel sick to my stomach.
“I was gutted someone could do such a thing and I felt really depressed. It brought it all back to me. I don’t know why they have picked on me, it’s just sick.
“Gary is in the local cemetery but I haven’t been to see him in ten years. It’s too hard for me.”
The yobs targeted William — who was in the Royal Engineers regiment and completed two tours of Northern Ireland during the Troubles in the 1970s — over two nights last weekend.
He added: “My friend helps me with the garden and I don’t keep too well. He told me about it.
“The solar lights were kicked out. Rocks had been thrown against a window above me.
“There was mud everywhere and two seats that I used were covered in it, too. At that stage I went to the police.
“But the following day my other son went outside and saw the new graffiti on the window.

“Maybe they did it as I’d been to the police, I don’t know.”
Last night cops confirmed they were probing the vandalism.
A spokesman said: “Officers are investigating. Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact us.”
