British boy, 2, drowns in villa swimming pool just one day into Algarve break with his family
Cops are investigating whether the toddler was being properly looked after

A TWO-YEAR-OLD British boy has drowned in a swimming pool accident on the Algarve.
The tragedy happened at a rented private house near the tourist area of Quinta do Paraiso, in the popular resort of Carvoeiro on Saturday.
It emerged today that the British family had only arrived a day before the tragedy.
Vítor Rio, commander of the local voluntary firefighter force in Lagoa, said: "We received the alert around 3.00pm on Saturday about a young child that had drowned in the swimming pool of a private villa.
“We were told to head to Quinta do Paraíso where someone would be waiting for us to take us to the villa"
"We found two men in the house. We didn't focus on understanding what had happened, only on trying to save the child, who was already out of the pool. We tried to revive him for around one hour without success".
"It appeared to us two men were at home with the baby while two women were out shopping”
Respected local daily Correio da Manha said one of the things police were looking at was the possibility the men had been drinking and hadn’t paid enough attention to the youngster in their care.
No-one from the Policia Judiciaria, who are still investigating the death, was available for immediate comment.
Local reports said he had been left with male relatives while his mum was out shopping with his grandmother.
Paramedics tried to revive him at the scene but could do nothing to save him.
It comes just a day after a two-year-old boy was "drowned" by an alligator in Disney World.
The tot was paddling in gator-infested waters at a five-star resort across from the Magical Kingdom in Orlando, Florida.
His desperate parents tried to save their son, as his dad attempted to prise the boy from the reptile's jaw.
Tragically his intact body was found near where he was dragged underwater 17 hours later.
