Queen Camilla’s ‘revenge’ on Meghan Markle complete with latest charity success

QUEEN Camilla launched a new venture this week and it’s already proving to be a big success.
Her Majesty debuted her Reading Room podcast on Monday and it is flying in the Spotify and Apple charts.
The podcast, which currently has a five-star rating, is dominating Arts and Books categories, including being top on Apple for Great Britain.
The much-anticipated audio show follows Camilla's popular The Queen's Reading Room book club, which she launched during the pandemic.
Queen Camilla doesn’t host the podcast itself, but she does feature in each episode.
During the first episode, King Charles’ wife was asked: “Which book did you most enjoy reading to your grandchildren and did you do different voices for the characters?”

Camilla answered: “I think the one I enjoyed reading more than anything else was Harry Potter.
“I can’t mimic voices for love or money, I’m completely hopeless at it.
“I was a really bad actor at school and I’ve never been able to master the art of mimicry, but my husband, he can do all the voices.”
Famous guest stars
Episodes will feature famous authors, with the first week’s being Rebus Author Sir Ian Rankin, who spoke from his home in Scotland about his childhood and where his literary inspiration came from.
Most read in Royals
Other guests will include Joanna Lumley, David Baddiel and Elif Shafak.
The first episode topped charts in Australia, while in Canada it came first in Books and fifth in the overall arts section.
While in the US, it ranks fifth in Books and 12th in Arts.
And according to one royal expert, Camilla’s new project is bound to ruffle the feathers of Prince Harry, 39, and wife Meghan, 42, whose Archetypes podcast was axed along with their entire Spotify deal last June.
Camilla's snub
King Charles’ wife was cruelly branded the “villain” and “dangerous” by her son-in-law in his book Spare last year.
And while Camilla kept a dignified silence following the attack, one expert says she has subtly got her own back and the “perfect revenge” by potentially flourishing in an area where Harry and Meghan seemingly failed.
Denise Palmer Davies, brand expert and director of Borne Media, told Fabulous: “After all the hurtful things Harry has said about Camilla, she has finally got her own back on them.
"If her podcast does well, and I am sure it will, she will have achieved in an area they so desperately wanted to succeed in, then that is the perfect revenge.
"I bet Meghan in particular will be livid over the whole thing, and probably a bit embarrassed that hers fell at the first hurdle.”
Her online book club was set up during lockdown when she shared some of the literature she read during the pandemic and the club’s Instagram page already boasts over 167,000 followers.
Meghan's reaction
Royal expert Jennie Bond doesn’t agree that Camilla is after revenge on her son-in-law and his wife - though predicts Meghan will be feeling “envious” of Camilla's new venture.
“It wouldn’t have been any part of Camilla’s decision to launch this podcast, she is better than that," Jennie says.
"I very much doubt that she gives Meghan much thought - she is far too busy making a resounding success of her new role.
“While I don’t think Camilla will expend much energy pondering about Meghan, I imagine Meghan might look quite enviously across the pond at how Camilla has adapted to royal life, made a success of her role, and is increasingly admired by the public.
“The more we see of this Queen, the more I think people come to appreciate that she is an immensely likeable person, down-to-earth, caring and dignified, and that will all contribute to the undoubted success of her podcast.

"Unlike Meghan, she doesn’t have to please any commissioning editors, it’s not a commercial venture, it is a charitable venture.
“Camilla is also showing that she fully embraces the modern world of Instagram and podcasts, and she feels very comfortable talking about literature.”
