Prince Harry updates — Duke & Meghan reflect on Canada trip after bombshell interview as William speaks on Gaza conflict

PRINCE Harry and Meghan Markle said they were grateful for their time in Canada last week as they marked one year to go before next year’s winter Invictus games.

Speaking to People following Harry’s bombshell TV interview earlier in the week, the couple said: “We loved being back in Canada, a place so meaningful to both of us. It was an honour to be welcomed by the Four Host First Nations, as we marked One Year To Go, together with Invictus coaches, competitors and families.”

The Sussexes said their visit to Canada, where they once considered moving to, “filled their hearts.”

It comes as Prince William spoke out about the Isreal-Gaza conflict, saying “too many have been killed” and called for “an end to the fighting as soon as possible."

  • Israeli government responds to Prince William's remarks

    The Israeli government has responded after Prince William spoke out about the war in Gaza.

    The Prince of Wales said "too many have been killed" in the Middle East conflict and he "wants to see an end to the fighting as soon as possible" in a public statement yesterday.

    The Israeli government responded to William's remarks, with spokesperson Eylon Levy saying: “Israelis of course want to see an end to the fighting as soon as possible, and that will be possible once the 134 hostages are released and once the Hamas terror army threatening to repeat the Oct 7 atrocities is dismantled.

    “We appreciate the Prince of Wales’s call for Hamas to free the hostages ... We also recall with gratitude his statement from Oct 11 condemning Hamas’s terror attacks and reaffirming Israel’s right of self-defence against them.”

    The Israeli military campaign, which was launched after an attack by Hamas on October 7, has killed 29,000 people in Palestinian territory, according to the Hamas-run health ministry. About 1,200 people were killed and 240 taken hostage in the October 7 attack by Hamas.

    Prince William says "too many have been killed" in the Israel-Gaza conflict and called for "an end to the fighting as soon as possible".

    In a public statement, the Prince of Wales said there is a "desperate need for increased humanitarian support to Gaza" and that "it's critical that aid gets in and hostages are released."

    "Sometimes it is only when faced with the sheer scale of human suffering that the importance of permanent peace is brought home," he added.

    “Even in the darkest hour, we must not succumb to the counsel of despair. I continue to cling to the hope that a brighter future can be found, and I refuse to give up on that.”

    Suits star Patrick J. Adams has said he is too "intimidated" to reach out to the Duchess of Sussex.

    The Canadian, who played Meghan's on-screen love interest for seven years, told Radio Times: "I guess I'm scared about the idea of breaking through whatever walls exist to have that conversation.

    "After our children were born, there were some texts sent and gifts sent, but I guess I'm a little scared. I think it's pure fear."

    Prince Harry and Meghan Markle said they were grateful to spend three days in Whistler, Canada last week as they marked one year to go before next year's winter Invictus games.

    In an interview with People, the couple said: "We loved being back in Canada, a place so meaningful to both of us. It was an honour to be welcomed by the Four Host First Nations, as we marked One Year To Go, together with Invictus coaches, competitors and families."

    They added that they enjoyed being around Canada and its people, and looked forward to returning for next year's games, which was founded by Harry in 2014.

    “It filled our hearts to once again be surrounded by Canadian people, food and culture,” they added. “We felt the Invictus spirit and excitement throughout Whistler and Vancouver, and are so grateful to all our hosts for organising such a memorable visit. We’re counting down the days until we return!”

    Harry said: “Once you leave the military from a uniform standpoint, you never leave the community and to have the games every other year but then also to be able to do a one year to go event as well, is literally my annual fix.

    “To be amongst this community and have a laugh, have fun, no matter which nation they’re from, the banter is the same.

    “I get a lot of energy just from being around these guys.”
