Lovehoney Advent Calendar review: how I tested
I've written a number of sexual wellness articles for The Sun, including our Womanizer review, Lelo Sona review and We-Vibe review.
I also contributed to our tried-and-tested roundup of the best sex toys for women.
I like to think, therefore, that I know what I'm on about when it comes to knowing which sexual wellness products are worth investing in.
To speed up the process when reviewing the Lovehoney calendars, I sadly didn’t open a door a day for 24 days; instead, I tested each item in both Advent calendars over the course of a couple of weeks.

Lovehoney Advent Calendar review: quick summary
There’s a whole array of products across these two Advent calendars, from the lusted-after to a sex position card game.
The does what it says on the tin and offers a whole array of sex toys that can be used solo and with a partner.
Inside, you’ll find the , a 6.3-inch textured silicone dildo which can be used in tandem with the bullet vibrator that you’ll also find tucked behind one of the doors.
Some products may push you to try something new, like sex position dice and a jewelled aluminium butt plug.
The feels like a more condensed version of the 24-day Advent calendar, with similar products but a female focus.
Among other goodies, you’ll find the (the star of the show) as well as silicone anal beads and a soft satin blindfold.

First impressions
I’m a big fan of an Advent calendar and find the ritual and surprise of opening each door a real joy.
But I find it particularly satisfying when an Advent calendar gives me products I will actually use, rather than simply a small chocolate that’s gone in seconds.
Whether that’s beauty or homeware, tools or booze, buying an Advent calendar from a brand you love can save you money on products you’ve been looking to buy while allowing you to try something new.
Plus, if there’s something in there that isn’t for you, then that’s one Christmas present taken care of (but you didn’t hear that from me).
This year, Lovehoney has three Advent calendars available that are jam-packed with sex toys, aftercare products and kinky bits and pieces to elevate your sex life. I’ve been able to try two of them.
The first is the biggie: the 24-day x Womanizer Couple’s Sex Toy Advent Calendar.
I’m already a big fan of Womanizer and have previously been mightily impressed with its eco-friendly credentials and highly effective sex toys, so I was excited to get behind the 24 doors to see what surprises lay in store.
Worth £457.75 but costing £149, it’s a 67% saving on what you would spend if you bought everything in the calendar individually.
For my money, that makes it worth it even if you only wanted to keep two or three items; the Womanizer and We-Vibe toys alone are worth more than the calendar costs.
When the calendars arrived, they came in a ginormous cardboard box which I was initially slightly concerned about, but after closer inspection, I saw there was nothing to indicate its contents. I needn’t have worried that my neighbour took the package in for me.
The 24-day calendar was a festive red and a little bigger than I was expecting, feeling more the size of a luxury beauty Advent calendar.
There was a manual — which I always think is incredibly useful when it comes to sex toys, which can be a bit alien and daunting — giving details about each product.
What’s inside the Lovehoney x Womanizer advent calendar?
Lovehoney x Womanizer Couple's Sex Toy Advent Calendar, £149 (worth £457.75) from Lovehoney
So, what is inside? The standout products are, of course, the (worth £89.99) and the (worth £79.99).
The Womanizer is for the vagina-owners in your life, as it's a clitoral stimulator equipped with the brand's famous pleasure air technology (which I’m a big fan of) as well as eight intensity levels, which you can adjust depending on how you’re feeling.
In my opinion, the Liberty 2, a mini version of the OG Womanizer, is just as good as the original. It might even be better because it’s smaller (and therefore more discreet) and has a little cover to keep the nozzle clean.
I think this toy is as close to the real thing as you can get, and thanks to its size and sleek design, you can take it with you in your luggage (or handbag if you’d like) and no one would be any the wiser.
A gripe I’ve had with Womanizer in the past is that its products aren’t waterproof, but fear not because the Liberty 2 is completely safe to take into the bath or shower with you and it still has the impressive eco-packaging that sets Womanizer apart from other brands.
The We-Vibe, meanwhile, is a toy to be shared. With an ergonomic shape that slides in to stimulate the G-spot during sex while your partner also experiences the vibrations, it’s a win-win.
Not having sex? Try long-distance play, where your partner controls the 10+ vibration modes using the We-Vibe app.
Also inside is a USB rechargeable vibrator which has three speeds and seven patterns and fits with the 6.3-inch silicone dildo, couple’s rabbit cock ring, G- and P-spot massager sleeve and textured finger vibrator sleeve that feature in the Advent calendar.
Behind other doors, there are cleaning wipes to keep your sex toys hygienic and safe, toy gel for comfort, vanilla massage oil and menthol orgasm balm as well as a mini wand vibrator that has three speeds and seven settings, a 3.75-inch silicone penis stroker, thick silicone cock ring and a jewelled aluminium butt plug.
Into something a little bit more 50 Shades? Try the kegel balls, ankle cuffs, under-the-mattress restraints, 9-inch double-sided paddle or the red and rose gold nipple clamps.
And if you like to be tied up, there are velvet handcuffs to try as well as a black and rose gold coloured blindfold to match the nipple clamps (who says you can’t be colour coordinated and stimulated at the same time?).
For something a little lighter, there’s the glittery body massager, sex position dice and a sex position snap card game, which help to keep things fresh. All round, a lot of fun.
There’s a real plethora of surprises behind the 24 doors in this advent calendar for both partners, allowing you to maybe try something new or indulge in long-term routines or kinks with a little more spice.
What's inside the 12-day Indulge Advent Calendar?
12-Day Indulge Sex Toy Advent Calendar, £99 (worth £232.87) from Lovehoney
The Indulge sex toy advent calendar, which has 12 doors, is specifically for people with vaginas and is a condensed version of the 24-door option, with a Lovehoney clitoral stimulator instead of Womanizer or We-Vibe.
The clitoral stimulator is both internal and external and has a range of patterns and speeds.
A dual-action sex toy, it stimulates both internally and externally at the same time. The silicone finish means it’s really easy to clean and it’s lube safe which I’d recommend to avoid any discomfort or friction.
It does what it says on the tin; while it isn't as sophisticated as the Womanizer and less discreet, in my experience it works — and works well.
There’s also the same bullet vibrator that features in the other calendar, which works with the G spot dildo and textured finger vibrator sleeve.
You’ll also find kegel balls, purple and rose gold nipple clamps, a mini wand vibrator with three speeds and seven patterns, a purple and rose gold coloured butt plug, silicone anal beads, a satin blindfold and mint orgasm balm.
A hygienic time is a good time, so don’t overlook the fresh toy wipes or the toy gel which make everything just that touch more fun.
Where to buy the Lovehoney Advent calendars
Unsurprisingly, the is the place to buy both of these advent calendars.
The price of both calendars falls above Lovehoney's threshold for free delivery, meaning you won't have to pay any more than the price of the calendar.
As mentioned, they're delivered in an unassuming cardboard box that says nothing to indicate what's inside, so there's no need to worry about your neighbours finding out what you've ordered.
How much are the Lovehoney Advent calendars?
The full-size retails for £149, while the smaller is £99.
Both are admittedly more expensive than your run-of-the-mill chocolate calendar, but they offer significant savings compared to the cost of buying their components separately.
The 24-day calendar has a cumulative value of £457.75, meaning that you save over £300 by buying all of the toys inside as a festive bundle.
As I mentioned earlier, the combined price of the Womanizer Liberty 2 and the We-Vibe Sync lite is £169.98, meaning you've saved over £20 on those alone.
The 12-day calendar, on the other hand, is worth a more modest £232.87, but you're still saving 57% compared to buying the toys separately.
Of course, it's very possible that you won't use everything included in the calendars, but even if you discard a couple of the items, this is a bundle worth the investment.
Lovehoney Advent calendar review: the verdict
I personally think these advent calendars are well worth it if you’re looking to up the spice in the bedroom or if you’ve been eyeing a sex toy for yourself.
The value of both calendars (£99 but worth £232.87 for the 12-day version, £149 but worth £457.75 for the 24-day edition) is exceptional and there’s a good mix of products inside each.
