What to look for when buying a TV

The Sun spoke to Henrik Schmidt, Head of Category TV at Currys, for expert TV-buying tips.

"Consider investing in OLED or Neo QLED TVs for the best picture quality," he advised.

Gamers should prioritise HDMI 2.1 and 120Hz models to match the refresh rates of modern consoles.

Henrik also noted: "Larger TVs stay relevant longer, reducing the need for upgrades. Plus, 8K resolution is gaining traction, with more content expected soon."

How much to spend on a TV

Buying a TV can feel overwhelming, but Schmidt suggests focusing on your budget and priorities.

"While most suppliers offer top-tier panels, each has unique USPs," he explained.

"For a truly immersive experience, Philips’ OLED+ Ambilight TVs are worth exploring. And when it comes to OLED technology, LG has made impressive advancements."

Stick to what you need and your budget, and you won’t go far wrong.

Where are the best TV deals?

The good news is that there are only a few trusted online retailers you need to check for the best TV deals, many of which offer guarantees for extra peace of mind.

How to find the best cheap 4K TV deals?

Finding the best TV deal is easier with a few simple tips.

Set your budget first. TV prices range from under £200 to thousands, so knowing your limit (with a bit of wiggle room) helps.

Pick the right size for your space; the ideal viewing distance is about 1.5 times the screen size.

During sales, retailers often price-match, so if you can, waiting for Amazon's Prime Day or Black Friday could save you a tidy sum.

Currys also has a price-match guarantee, so take advantage if you spot a better deal elsewhere.
