UFC new-boy Michael Chandler received a Zoom call from Rick Flair just days after impersonating the WWE legend following his stunning debut on Fight Island.

The former Bellator lightweight champion channelled his inner Nature Boy in an epic post-fight interview after his first-round TKO victory over Dan Hooker in the co-main event of UFC 257.

And his impression of Flair's legendary speech following his victory at the 1992 Royal Rumble prompted the WWE Hall-of-Famer to get in contact.

He said: "Ladies and gentlemen, fresh off one of the best days of my entire life, then I get a personal congratulations from one of the greatest men to ever do it.

"The man, the myth, the legend, Rick Flair."

Upon hearing the introduction, Flair let out a trademark 'wooooo'.

Chandler, who was clearly in awe of the legendary wrestler, added: "I appreciate you, Rick."

The 71-year-old Flair responded with another of his unforgettable catchphrases, much to the delight of the giddy Chandler.

Flair said: "We're stylin' and profilin' now."

An elated Chandler then said: "Stylin' and profilin', man. God, man. Just living the dream, man. I appreciate you, Rick, I really do."

Chandler opened up on his epic post-fight interview in the UFC 257 post-fight press conference, telling SunSport and others: “I thought about it a couple of times.

"The origination of that was actually [Daniel Cormier] and Ariel [Helwani] talking about why I was in the [EA Sports UFC] video game.

“Ariel said I shouldn’t have been in the video game [because] I hadn’t fought in the UFC yet, but DC was like, ‘Well, yeah. But he’s Ric Flair.

"He came over from WCW and he got the title shot right away. Everybody was mad, but he’s Ric Flair.’

“So it’s kinda funny. I’m actually not the biggest WWE/pro wrestling guy, but it was ‘the best day of my professional career.’

"I didn’t do the whole ‘tear in my eye’ thing, though, I thought that was a little too over the top. And the callouts came after that.”
