Nuno Tavares says he is not fussed about where he is asked to play for Arsenal on the pitch.

The Portugal Under-21 ace impressed with his performance at left-back for the Gunners during their 3-1 defeat of Aston Villa at the Emirates.

On the full-back's flexibility, Mikel Arteta said: "That's something that we really liked about Nuno when we were looking at him, and credit to Edu and the scouting department when they were doing the process because that is something that we have discussed a lot because we want a certain character to play for Arsenal.

"To deal with that pressure, to be able to perform straight away when you are needed and to go from not playing to playing straight away, and to have this capacity to do what he did. So credit to the boy."

  • RAZOR SHARP ROWE

Gary Neville reckons Emile Smith Rowe is a better finisher than Cristiano Ronaldo was at his age.

The Arsenal starlet, 21, has netted three goals in 10 Gunners appearances so far this term after being given the club's number 10 shirt.

Neville told Sky Sports: "Ronaldo now for 10, 15 years and Mo Salah for five, six years, and beyond. They are absolutely deadly. They are ruthless and clinical.

"Everything that Smith Rowe [wants to be], he's a beautiful footballer Smith Rowe, and he's got a long way to go in his career.

"Cristiano Ronaldo wasn't as clinical and ruthless at that age."

  • HENRY'S A HERO

Bukayo Saka has revealed that Thierry Henry texted him after he missed a penalty during England's loss to Italy in the finals of the 2020 Euros.

The Arsenal icon was among the many individuals who rallied around Saka and the Three Lions squad following the defeat at Wembley in July.

Saka, 20, told Sky Sports for Black History Month: “He’s a hero to me for what he’s done for my club, what he’s done in football.

“That meant everything to me, already looking up to him.”

After the game, Saliba said: "I saw he made the ball so I was like, 'Either take the red or I take the ball'.

"Human beings change themselves, every six months, we have all new cells. And that’s incredible.

  • CRITICAL THINKING

Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun's brother, Royce, has come out in criticism of Mikel Arteta's tactics, claiming the Gunners have a 'striker problem' due to their style of play.

Balogun, 20, started the opening day defeat at Brentford and then came off the bench in the home loss to Chelsea, but hasn't appeared for Arsenal since, with his brother claiming Arteta’s system ‘just doesn’t really work’.

Royce Balogun told : “You can’t blame just the player, it’s the system. If you look at that striker problem in terms of chances created, it’s not just Folarin.

“When Martinelli and Aubameyang were playing there, the system didn’t work. The system just doesn’t really work at the moment.

"Soon it will work and he’ll have to be ready when it does. You have to support him and tell him to keep going.”

Balogun showed Arsenal fans and Mikel Arteta what he's capable of as he scored twice for Arsenal's under-23's over the weekend as they overcame Man Utd under-23's 3-1.

  • SUPER JACK

Ex-Arsenal hero Jack Wilshire is set to hold talks with the club in the coming days about a sensational return to the Emirates after former teammate Mikel Arteta said that 'the door is always open'.

Via Football Daily, he said: "I really enjoyed playing with him [Arteta], sharing a dressing room with him. To hear him come out and say the door is always open is nice.

"I think it can only help me, being around good players, training with world class players.

"And just being in a team environment is something that I'm interested in and I'm sure I'll have a conversation with someone at the club over the next few days."

Wilshire made 197 appearances for Arsenal before leaving for West Ham in 2018, but suffered from a series of injuries that limited his playing time for the club over the years.

The 29-year-old was once viewed as one of Arsenal's most exciting academy product in years and famously endeared himself to Gunners fans by leading a chant about Spurs during Arsenal's 2014 FA Cup victory parade.

  • BACK ON TRACK

Arsenal take on Burnley at Turf Moor on Saturday in their next Premier League fixture, which will come as good news to Gunners fans after the Clarets were soundly beaten 3-1 by Everton last night.

Both sides suffered difficult starts to the season, with Arsenal losing their first three before beating Norwich at the weekend and Burnley losing their first two before drawing with Leeds and then losing to Everton last night.

Arsenal fans will be hoping that an away win against Burnley will get their season back on track and propel them back up the table, but after Burnley's poor start, they'll equally be hoping for a big performance against Arsenal.

Mikel Arteta's side have struggled to find their shooting boots of late, having scored just one goal in four games in the Premier League so far.

But opponents Burnley are yet to keep a clean sheet in the league this season, which could make them the ideal opponents for Arsenal as they look to get their front line scoring goals again.

With Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang opening his account for the season against Norwich, he'll be desperate to add to his tally of 65 goals in 117 Premier League appearances.

The 32-year-old striker from Gabon scored came under criticism as he scored just ten Premier League goals last season, having bagged more than 20 in each of the two seasons previous to that.

Having signed for £16.74m, fans feel Tomiyasu is already on his way to justifying his transfer fee and could quickly become a vital part of a new-look Arsenal backline alongside Ben White, Gabriel and Kieran Tierney.

The youngster won the ball back deep in the Man Utd half before bursting into the box, gliding past Phil jones and then dinking the ball over Dean Henderson.

Patino was born in Watford to Spanish parents and has represented his country at youth level, captaining England in an Under-16 match against Spain when he was just 14.

  • THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE

£24million player Aaron Ramsdale has had a huge few months after making the England squad for the Euros following injuries to Dean Henderson and Nick Pope and signing for Arsenal from boyhood club Sheffield United.

He made his Arsenal bow in the 1-0 win over Norwich at the weekend and the 23-year-old will reportedly his place in the Arsenal goal ahead of Bernd Leno going into the Gunners' clash with Burnley on Saturday.

Of Ramsdale, Arteta said post-match: “Aaron was terrific. It wasn’t just the technical side, it was energy he transmitted, his chemistry with the backline and body language.

“We have two fantastic keepers. Now I want to see how they perform in training — and whoever gives more confidence and is more reliable is going to play.”

This could spell the end at Arsenal for German keeper Bernd Leno, who at the age of 29 will seek assurances about his playing time and may look elsewhere if he is not playing regularly.

Ramsdale, 23, said: “It’s my responsibility to force him to carry on picking me, which is something I have to do on a daily basis.

And reports claim he humiliated Dean Henderson and Phil Jones whilst doing so.

Elsewhere Hector Bellerin is thought to have made a sly dig at Arsenal’s competitive edge ahead of Real Betis’s clash with Celtic in the Europa League on Thursday.

The Gunners full-back is currently on loan for one season at the Spanish club following a temporary move this summer.

Bellerin told the Daily Record: “We have already watched the derby against Rangers and that result puts pressure on Celtic.

“If we can dominate the ball against them, we can get the win we need.

“I’ve left Arsenal to win things with Real Betis. I’m not here for a holiday.”

And Italian football expert Fabrizio Romano claims Arsenal’s failure to sell Alexandre Lacazette derailed their efforts to sign ex-Chelsea starlet Tammy Abraham.

The Blues forward was heavily linked with the club before sealing a £34million move to Jose Mourinho’s Roma.

Romano told his Here We Go podcast: “They were really, really pushing and pushing, they were trying in every possible way.

“So, Arsenal were really convinced that they had a chance to sign Tammy Abraham but in football, it is not easy to change the mind of the players.”

  • RAMSDALE IS READY

Aaron Ramsdale is gearing up to battle Bernd Leno to become Arsenal's number one stopper.

And SunSport's Mark Irwin reports that Mikel Arteta is keeping both players in the dark as to who his preferred choice is.

Ramsdale revealed that he only found out on the eve of Saturday's 1-0 win against Norwich that he would be starting in that game.

The £24million goalkeeper said: "It’s my responsibility to force him to carry on picking me, which is something I have to do on a daily basis.

"We’ve got to continue that competitiveness on the training ground and I have to try to stay in the team."

And Gallagher reckons the striker was fortunate not to have his goal ruled out.

The former Prem ref told Sky Sports News: "[Regarding whether Aubameyang was offside], this was a really interesting incident because I thought Aubameyang was offside.

"Aubameyang starts in an offside position, but when the ball hits the post and comes back, it strikes Pepe and goes to him - and at that point, he's returned behind the ball so he's onside."

  • REISS OVERUSE

Reiss Nelson could be set to miss Feyenoord's Conference League clash with Maccabi Haifa and their top-flight duel with PSV.

The Arsenal starlet, currently on loan at the Dutch club, is contending with an "overuse injury", according to Football.london.

Feyenoord head coach Arne Slot was unable to confirm if the player would be fit for his team's clash with PSV.

Slot told Football.london: "Nelson had participated in almost all training sessions at Arsenal, but he experiences the training here as a bit more intense.

"He suffered an overuse injury and so he is not there. Whether he will be fit for the PSV game remains to be seen."

  • LAC OF BUYERS

Arsenal's failure to sell Alexandre Lacazette is reported to have hindered their rumoured summer bid for Tammy Abraham.

Italian football journalist Fabrizio Romano claims the Gunners were eager to swoop for the ex-Chelsea starlet.

And the team were hoping to offload the France international beforehand.

However, the former Blues ace would eventually seal a £34million move to Roma where he is enjoying an impressive start to his career in Serie A.

Speaking on his Here We Go podcast, Romano said: "They were really, really pushing and pushing, they were trying in every possible way.

"So, Arsenal were really convinced that they had a chance to sign Tammy Abraham but in football, it is not easy to change the mind of the players."

Danny Mills and Simon Lee Jordan reckon Mikel Arteta could be set for the chop at Arsenal in the near future.

The Gunners have notched up just one win from their four opening Prem games this term and sit just two places above the relegation zone.

Football pundit Murphy told talkSPORT: "I think he is walking the plank.

"I like him. I like the way he comes across, I like his humility, I like his work ethic, but ultimately it doesn’t take you far.

"You have to produce a winning side with what you have got and he has got some good players, it’s not like he has got a squad full of duds – he has got some really talented boys in there."

  • MIK'S GOOD PICK

Perry Groves reckons Mikel Arteta deserves praise for his decisive action on subs during Arsenal's win against Norwich.
