LINEKER WOE AS ARSENAL ICON VIEIRA SINKS SPURS
Ex-Tottenham striker Gary Lineker posted an exasperated tweet after Arsenal hero Patrick Vieira inflicted Spurs' first defeat of the season.
The Gunners legend sealed his first win as Crystal Palace boss with a 3-0 victory at Selhurst Park and the Match of the Day host did not seem too pleased.
Spurs' Japhet Tanganga was sent off for a second yellow card on the hour mark which was the turning point.
Wilfried Zaha made it 1-0 from the spot on 76 minutes after Ben Davies was judged to have handled the ball in the box.
And new signing Odsonne Edouard came off the bench for a perfect debut and scored twice inside the last ten minutes to seal the win.
Tottenham - who were top of the table before kick-off - were poor.
And Lineker was quick to point to Vieira's Arsenal connection when commenting on the result after the game.
The 60-year-old wrote: "Patrick Vieira getting one over on Spurs. Been a while since that happened."

TAKE YOUR CHANCE, TOMI
Fit-again Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey returns but only on the bench while deadline-day recruit from Bologna Takehiro Tomiyasu starts at right-back.
And of course it's a big day for Ainsley Maitland-Niles in midfield, having been linked to Everton just hours earlier.
OD TIME TO MENTION IT...
As Arsenal prepare for today's bottom-two clash with Norwich, summer buy Martin Odegaard says it would be an "honour" to become captain at some stage.
But the Gunners' ex-Real Madrid playmaker also stresses: "Right now I'm focusing on the present and improving the performances of the club."
PIERS TEMPTED TO SUPPORT UTD TODAY
Arsenal fan and Cristiano Ronaldo worshipper Piers Morgan ruefully claims he was tempted to support Manchester United for “two hours” this afternoon.
TV celebrity Morgan contrasted the thrill of “the world’s best ever footballer” making his second United debut later today with the pain of the Gunners’ “relegation battle six-pointer” against Norwich.
JONES TO FACE GUNNERS’ U-23S
Phil Jones will return to action for the first time since the beginning of 2020 when he starts for Manchester United’s U23 side on Saturday afternoon.
The 29-year-old defender has been suffering on the sidelines for more than 18 months due to a recurring knee injury which has devastated his career.
But he will now look to begin the long road back to full fitness as he lines up for the Red Devils’ U23 team against Arsenal.
Jones’ return comes just 24 hours after he was named in first team coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s 25-man squad for the 2021-22 Premier League season.
The United manager was quick to jump to the defender’s case last month after Rio Ferdinand said Jones should leave the club.
Solskjaer said: “I think what Rio said was out of order, completely. I know more than anyone how it feels to be injured.
“Phil has had a horrible 18, 19, 20 months and was troubled for a year before that with injuries.
“He gets his head down and is a proper professional, no fuss family man and just wants to get back fit. He has never done anything but give everything for the club.”
TIME TO DELIVER
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has admitted that the team needs to start delivering immediately.
Arteta has overseen the Gunners’ worst start in a season since 1954 and pressure is mounting.
The Spanish head coach said: “We have a completely different squad. It’s unheard of.
“Now we have to make it work, we have to glide it together, build relationships, chemistry and understanding.
“We have to do that really quickly.”
PARTEY TIME
Arsenal star Thomas Partey hinted he will play against Norwich at the Emirates.
Partey shared a story on Instagram, which he captioned with: "I'm Back!"
The midfielder recently returned to training and appears to be part of Mikel Arteta's plans once more.
The Gunners host the Canaries today at 3pm
TAKE THAT
Arsenal signing Takehiro Tomiyasu took part in his first training session for his new club on Friday.
Tomiyasu joined the Gunners on transfer deadline day last month following a last-gasp £20million deal with Bologna.
The defender had been on the north Londoners' wish list throughout the entire summer and could make his debut against Norwich.
And Arteta will hope the Japan international will add some much needed confidence at the back
ROCKY ROAD
Arsenal are going to finish in the bottom half of the Premier League table unless they learn from the legendary David Rocastle, according to Julian Dicks.
Dicks, speaking exclusively to Ladbrokes at its launch of the 5-A-Side Bet on Southampton v West Ham, said: "I was lucky enough to have played against David Rocastle, god bless him, who was an honest player.
"He wasn't exceptionally quick, but he was a very good player, and if I ever went on the overlap, he'd be following me. He never gave me a minute of peace. He wouldn't just stand there and leave me; he'd be following me.
"Do the Arsenal forwards really bust a gut like that now? No. Times have changed at Arsenal, but the principles should still be the same; you have to work hard, and if you're not doing that, you're not good enough"
ARTETA ON XHAKA
Arsenal ace Granit Xhaka will miss the clash with Norwich as he tested positive for coronavirus after deciding not to take the vaccine.
Gunners manager Mikel Arteta addressed Xhaka's decision and confirmed the club is encouraging players to take the jab.
Arteta said: “We are trying to explain all the reasons why it is the right thing to do.
“First of all, why it will protect the club, secondly the team-mates and the environment they are around, the exposure they will have if they do not do it.
“It is a personal matter, it is not an obligation, and we have to respect that”

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta insists he believes in his new project despite a disastrous start to the season.
Arteta said: “We have tried to explain the project and the decisions that have been made over the last few months
“The amount of changes that happened in the past three years is almost 30 players.
"We have all participated trying to create and build this project, obviously led by the owners.
“It is a project we believed in, that we have to assemble, as it is the option that is the best for the future of the football club and we all take responsibility, because we’ve all been involved in the decision. Now we have to make it work”
ARTETA ADMISSION
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has admitted that the team needs to start delivering immediately.
Arteta has overseen the Gunners' worst start in a season since 1954 and pressure is mounting.
The Spanish head coach said: "We have a completely different squad. It’s unheard of.
"Now we have to make it work, we have to glide it together, build relationships, chemistry and understanding.
"We have to do that really quickly.”
ARTETA REPLACEMENT
Arsenal are looking at Nice manager Christophe Galtier and Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers as potential replacements for Mikel Arteta.
That is according to Ian McGarry, speaking on the Transfer Window Podcast, who claims that the Gunners could move for Galtier and Rodgers if they decide to dimsiss Arteta.
The Spanish head coach has come under fire after overseeing the north Londoners' worst start to a season since 1954.
Arsenal have lost all three of their first Premier League matches and conceded nine goals without scoring once
LAST TIME OUT
Arsenal and Norwich's most recent meeting at the Emirates took place last year in July.
The Gunners destroyed the Canaries with a decisive 4-0 victory in north London.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored a brace whereas Granit Xhaka and Cedric Soares also hit the net.

ARSENAL TRIBUTE
Arsenal paid tribute to everyone affected 20 years ago by the tragedy of 9/11.
It was two decades ago when four flight hijackings led to the biggest terrorist attack the west has ever experienced.
Two planes crashed in the Twin Towers in New York, another hit the Pentagon in Washington and a fourth fell in Pennsylvania after brave passengers fought back and didn't allow it to hit it's target, which is said to have been the Capitol Building.
Arsenal shared this statement:
CHECK MAIT
Everton are going to revive their interest in Arsenal ace Ainsley Maitland-Niles and are lining up an offer.
According to ESPN, the Toffees are considering revisiting their bid for Maitland-Niles during the January transfer window.and are readying an offer.
The midfielder was thought to be on the way out in the summer but was eventually denied a transfer by Mikel Arteta.
The 24-year-old hinted he wanted to leave the Gunners with a post on social media claiming he wants to play somewhere where he is appreciated.
But Arteta guaranteed him that he will get opportunities at the Emirates under him
