Fan favourite Gaethje, 33, came up short in his 155lb title unification fight with Khabib Nurmagomedov in October 2020 and is adamant Oliveira won't get the better of him easily.

He told : “If he can beat me, then kudos to him. But he’s going to have to walk through hell like Khabib did."

After sharing the octagon with former pound-for-pound king Nurmagomedov, Gaethje is confident of negating Oliveira's ever-improving skillset.

"If I went five rounds with Chandler, he would have died, and that’s the truth. So, I’m glad we didn’t go five rounds."

Oliveira is a million miles away from the fighter he was during the early portion of his UFC career and is currently riding an impressive ten-fight win streak.

But Gaethje believes Do Bronx is still capable of being mentally broken.

He said: "I believe deep down he knows his way out and that’s just to quit whenever he gets hit too many times too hard.

“It happened once and it will happen again, and I’m the perfect guy to show it to him.

"And I will show it to him [on] May 7.

"I’ve got to stay out of grappling positions, obviously, but I’m going to put a hole right in his face and it’s going to be glorious.”
