Scottish fighter Towell, 25, was knocked out in a bout with Dale Evans in a welterweight bout in Glasgow on Thursday.

The boxing world is still trying to come to terms with the tragedy that saw Towell lose his life in hospital after suffering a fifth round stoppage.

Tributes poured in all day for the fallen warrior and Hatton has taken a lead in looking to help Towell's dependents in their hour of need.

Says Hatton, who has set up a page on JustGiving: "Mike Towell lost his life doing either what he loved or looking after his family - or both.

A young boy and partner are left behind let's make sure they are looked after.

Give what you can.

Let's see if we can smash the £20,000.

The fund quickly moved above £15,000.
