The Dutchman is prepared to give his forward a shot at redemption after an underwhelming end to the season with Ralf Rangnick at the helm.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano spoke to about the relationship between the pair.

Romano said: "Speaking with some sources, Ten Hag is prepared to give him a chance to change the situation.

"He feels he could be an important player for Manchester United in the future."

Rashford is hoping to impress new boss Erik ten Hag ahead of new contract talks.

Having begun last season with a shoulder injury, the local lad only started 13 Premier League games.

The attacker finished with just four goals and two assists and was on the fringe of Rangnick's squad.

The Red Devil's struggles as a team - finishing sixth in the Premier League - did not help his cause either.

Rashford and team-mate Jadon Sancho have been warned they may face World Cup heartbreak in November if the form continues.

England manager Gareth Southgate said: “They’ve got a lot to do to get back in the squad.”

Rashford has a year left on his contract, with United set to open talks later this summer.
