Leicester join race for Bernd Leno transfer in huge blow to Fulham as Foxes rocked by Nice’s Kasper Schmeichel approach

LEICESTER CITY are reportedly considering a shock swoop for Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno.

The Foxes are on the lookout for a goalie after suggestions Kasper Schmeichel has agreed a deal to sign for French club Nice.

Schmeichel's switch is thought to be dependent on Leicester finding a replacement first.

And Leno is one of the names being considered, according to .

Leicester's interest comes as a blow to Fulham, who have been linked with Leno for a number of weeks.

The Whites were thought to have been confident of landing the German stopper after Arsenal lowered their asking price to £8million.

Arsenal initially wanted £10m for Leno - who has lost the No 1 spot between the sticks at the Emirates to Aaaron Ramsdale.

But now Leicester's reported interest could throw a spanner in the works.

The Foxes do also have alternative targets in mind.

The 23-year-old has been capped by France at every youth level from Under-16 to U21.

Veteran stopper Schmeichel, 35, is claimed to have agreed to join Nice after 11 years of service at the King Power.

Schmeichel is in the final year of his contract and is said to want to leave on good terms after playing 477 games for the club.

After being part of the side that won promotion to the Prem, Schmeichel also helped the Foxes to Premier League and FA Cup glory.
