James Tavernier confronted by fuming Rangers fans as skipper told ‘it’s bang out of order’ after St Johnstone defeat

LIVID Rangers fans waited outside McDiarmid Park to vent their frustrations after the Light Blues fell to a shock defeat against St Johnstone.

Video footage circulating online appears to show captain James Tavernier stopping to speak to supporters, with one fan making his feelings clear to the skipper.

Despite a dominant opening period, the Gers couldn't make a breakthrough and found themselves 2-0 down in Perth after an hour.

A stunning strike from James Brown and a goal from ex-Rangers man Nicky Clark had the Saints in a comfortable position.

Tavernier himself struck late on, but there was to be no grandstand comeback as it finished 2-1 to the hosts.

It could be a hugely costly result with the Gers now trailing rivals Celtic by SEVEN points already in the Premiership title race.

It's a result that also ratchets up the pressure on boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst - who's admitted as much himself.

Pressure has been building for weeks, and the Gers have been booed off on several occasions.

Fans vented their frustrations from the stands after the 1-1 draw at home against Livingston a fortnight ago and even after a 1-0 cup win over Dundee at Ibrox.

And after the defeat at McDiarmid Park, a group of Gers supporters waited at the entrance to the stadium to make their feelings known to the players.

In a short clip that's appeared online, a fan can be seen venting towards Tavernier who has stopped to listen to what the supporters have to say.

Not everything the supporter says is completely audible, but he can be heard telling the club captain that "it's bang out of order" and that "it's the same every week."

The supporter can be heard urging Tavernier to speak to other players, with other senior Ibrox stars such as Glen Kamara and Scott Arfield also namechecked.

Meanwhile, van Bronckhorst has insisted "the determination is always there" to turn things around.

He was asked if he was feeling the pressure after the latest dismal result for his team.

He told Sky Sports: "It's a tough one to take the loss we had today.

"We are very disappointed with the result. We need to look forward, but it's always difficult to take losses.

"Especially when you are the manager or a player at a big club. You are expected to win and if you don't you're very disappointed.
