The record-breaker first hinted of a potential retirement back in 2021 but admitted his wife Daniella, "talked him out of it".
But after over twenty years of remarkable success in Cricket this time is different.
Anderson is set for his last appearance with England's first Test of the summer against the West Indies on Wednesday July 10.
At 41-years-old Daniella's husband, James Anderson is the regarded the oldest No 1 Test bowler in the world.

Who is Jimmy Anderson's wife Daniella Lloyd?
Daniella Lloyd is the wife of English international cricketer James Michael Anderson OBE.
The couple met each other in 2004 at a nightclub in London.
Daniella has said she had never heard of him before but detected "something special" on the night they met.
After a few years of dating, Anderson asked Daniella to marry him in 2006.

The sportsman proposed before marrying back home in Manchester shortly after.
Anderson has stated that marriage has made him "a much happier person".
The cricket legend has played for both Lancashire and England, and is thought to live with his wife Daniella Lloyd in his home town of Burnley.

What does Daniella Lloyd do?
Daniella was once a model by profession but, according to her own Instagram bio, she is now an "ex model".
She is also a mum to two.
On her social media pages she jokes about being a "cricket and golf widow", in reference to her sport-loving husband.
An interest in fashion is something that both Daniella and her husband share.
Jimmy has his own fashion range called The James Anderson Collection, which he started in 2012.
At the time, he stated that he would like to be "the first cricketer to become a designer".
He launched his own menswear brand in late October 2014 and released a watch in 2015.

Do Jimmy Anderson and Daniella Lloyd have children?
James and Daniella have two children together - daughters Ruby Luxe and Lola Rose.
Their first daughter, Lola Rose was born in January 2009.
Their second and youngest daughter, Ruby Luxe, then followed in December 2010.
Daniella previously revealed that she suffered a miscarriage before the birth of her daughters.
Jimmy, known as the King of Swing, has no doubt made his family very proud throughout the years with his cricketing achievements.
In 2021 he revealed how wife Daniella talked him out of retiring from cricket.
He recalled: “There have been difficult moments and I think everyone goes through it playing professional sport - whether it loss of form or confidence or injuries. There are all sorts of things you have to deal with.
