I’ve been snooker world champion four times but people don’t recognise me – they go wild for my TikTok sensation son

JOHN HIGGINS says TikTok has made his SON more famous than he is.

Four-time world champ Higgins has revealed more people recognise his lad Pierce when they are out together.

Pierce and pal Lewis Reid make up a comedy duo and have amassed almost four-million likes on their social media page, Jamaica Street, since it launched two years ago.

And on the eve of the Scottish Open, which starts today, Higgins revealed: “I’m being truthfully honest, when I go out with him to the football or a meal it’s amazing how many people recognise him and not me!

“They maybe think, ‘I’ve seen this old guy before but I don’t know what he does’.

"But it’s unbelievable the amount of young people that recognise him because of TikTok or these different platforms.

“Him and his pal Lewis have been doing it for a couple of years and he’s also trying to get into the stand-up comedy scene in Scotland.

“He’s following his dream, that’s what I did when I was 16, 17, 18 into my early 20s and luckily enough it happened for me in snooker and I’d dearly love for it to happen with him as well.

“It’s what you’d love for all three of your kids.

“It’s what he loves doing. He’s listened to comedy all his life listening to me!

"But no, seriously, he’s listened to comedy all his life with people like Kevin Bridges and that’s what he’d love to do as a career.”

The pair’s first BBC sketch was aired in September with a further four set to be released next year, starring Gavin Mitchell — Still Game’s Boaby the Barman — plus Scot Squad’s Officer Karen, Karen Bartke.

Higgins added: “He’s never had one bit of help from me.

"I’ve asked him if he wanted me to ring a couple of people and things like that, but he said if I ever do that he’ll disown me!

“Everything’s off his own back. He just gets on with it, he tells his mum and dad very little sometimes because he wants to go and do his own thing and things happen for him.”
