Kurtis Chapman dead at 26: Pro wrestler known as ‘Mad Kurt’ passes away as tributes paid to ‘gifted’ sports star

'He will never be forgotten'

TRIBUTES have been paid to "gifted" professional wrestler Kurtis Chapman who has died aged 26.

"Mad Kurt" sadly passed away, it has today been confirmed, in what has been described as a "massive loss to the UK wrestling scene"

Revolution Pro, a British wrestling promotion, shared the news following his death on Friday.

In a heartfelt statement they said: "We, at Revolution Pro Wrestling are absolutely heartbroken to report the loss of our dear friend Kurtis Chapman.

"We watched Kurtis grow from a child to a young man who loved professional wrestling and continued to excel in all aspects of his life.

"One of the most gifted technical wrestlers, charismatic characters and magnetic personalities. He will never be forgotten."

Chapman was described as "one of the most gifted technical wrestlers" and was known for his light-hearted style.

Tributes have since poured in for the young star.

Professional wrestler "Big Wavy" Roy Johnson wrote on X: "Awful news. Kurtis was such a character and so fun to be around. RIP."

ATTACK! Pro Wrestling, another company Chapman worked with, posted a picture with the caption: "Rest in peace, Kurtis."

Promotion Riot Cabaret Pro Wrestling added: "We're so sorry to hear this.

"Thinking of you all today and sending our deepest condolences to everyone who knew him."

One fan also paid tribute saying: "That's awful news, [he] was a really fun wrestler to watch and always looked like he was doing something he loved.

"My condolences to all his family and friends."

Born in Portsmouth, Chapman started wrestling as a teenager in 2014.

Chapman competed in RevPro, Progress, IPW, and many other minor promotions.

He was a former RevPro British Cruiserweight Champion, holding the belt for six months back in 2018.
