UFC 302 LIVE RESULTS: Islam Makhachev chokes out Dustin Poirier as Donald Trump watches from ringside

ISLAM Makhachev is still the light heavyweight champion after making Dustin Poirier submit to a d'arce choke.

Poirier stuffed Makhachev's takedowns multiple times throughout the fight but was unable to stop him halfway through the fifth round and ended up tapping out.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump sat ringside for all the action Saturday night just days after his conviction.

Trump made his way ringside at the beginning of the main card with UFC President Dana White and was met with cheers from the crowd.

  • Almeida vs Kopylov – Round Three

    Kopylov once again lands a takedown to escape the battle on the feet.

    While on the ground Kopylov hasn't done much damage as the crowd begins to boo for lack of action.

    Kopylov has over 7:00 minutes of control time and has landed 4 of 7 takedowns.

    Referee Herb Dean stands the fighters up but Kopylov manages to take Almeida down again!

  • Almeida vs Kopylov – Round Two

    Almeida has looked better in round two stuffing both of Kopylov's takedown attempts.

    Kopylov is taking the fight to Almeida into the side of the cage but it quickly transitions into a slugfest in the middle of the octagon.

    Kopylov finally lands a takedown with two minutes to go in the round and stays in control for the rest of the round.

  • Almeida vs Kopylov - Round One

    Kopylov attempts a takedown early but is unsuccessful but hits Almeida with a brutal left hook.

    But Kopylov is relentless and secures a takedown in his second attempt but Almeida gets back to his feet.

    Kopylov knocks Almeida down and throws down a flurry of punches but the fight is brought back to its feet as he doesn't engage on the ground.

    Kopylov lands another takedown and now is 2 for 3 on attempts.

    Cesar Almeida and Roman Kopylov are battling in a three-round middleweight fight next.

    Almeida has yet to lose in his UFC career so far touting a 5-0 record while Roman enters the bout with a 12-3 record.

    Almeida rushes into Romanov and takes him down to the mat and takes total control.

    Almeida is relentless and stays locked in on Romanov's neck and gets him to submit!

    He gets the victory by rear naked choke and gives us our first finish of the night!

  • Time for Jailton Almeida vs Alexandr Romanov

    Jailton Almeida and Alexandr Romanov will clash in a three-round heavyweight clash.

    Almeida enters the contest with a 20-3 record while Romanov comes in with a 17-2 record.

    Grant Dawson by unanimous decision!

  • Dawson vs Solecki – Round Three

    Solecki comes out firing and throws a flurry of punches but quickly finds himself on his back once again.

    Dawson continues to do what he has been doing all fight and continues to maul Solecki in the corner.

    It is all but over.

  • Dawson vs Solecki - Round Two

    Dawson continues where he left off takes Solecki down and mauls him in the corner.

    Dawson has racked up over 7 minutes of control time on the ground and has triple the strikes compared to Solecki.

    Solecki is bleeding profusely late in round two.

  • Dawson vs Solecki - Round One

    Solecki attempts a guillotine but Dawson escapes and controls the ground game for the rest of the round.

    Solecki exerted a lot of energy attempting to choke out Dawson and it may come back to bite him.

  • Next up Grant Dawson vs Joe Solecki

    Dawson and Solecki are battling in a three-round lightweight fight.

    Dawson enters the bout with a 20-2-1 record while Solecki comes in with a 13-4 record.

  • Donald Trump is in attendance

    The former president has shared on that will be in attendance at UFC 302 tonight.

    "Going to UFC tonight!!!" Trump wrote.

    This comes just days after he was found guilty by Judge Juan Merchan in a Manhattan court on all 34 counts for the hush money case involving Stormy Daniels.

    Trump has notably shown up at past UFC events and usually sits cage side during the main card.

  • Rowe vs Matthews – Round Three

    Matthews lands a takedown but Rowe reverses it and takes control back in the middle of the octagon.

    Rowe tallies up control time on the mat but doesn't inflict much damage on Matthews.

    Matthews takes back position and maintains control for the rest of round three.

  • Rowe vs Matthews – Round Two

    Matthews connects on a huge right hook and appears to have hurt Rowe but he can't capitalize.

    Rowe has been successful up to this point using his jab and has incorporated some low kicks into his arsenal.

    Matthews is punching at volume already throwing 157 total strikes but can he keep it up headed into the third round?

  • Rowe vs Matthews - Round One

    Phil looks fresh but Jake has landed more strikes in the first round.

    Both fighters swing for the fences and their faces are both showing it as Matthews gets busted open.

    Rowe isn't bleeding but his face is red and swollen.

    The match is stopped after Rowe gets hit in the groin as both fighters survive the slugfest in round one.

  • First prelim fight starts now

    Phil Rowe and Jake Matthews are kicking off the preliminary fight card in a welterweight bout.

    Rowe enters the fight with a 10-4 record while Matthews comes in with a 19-7 record.

    The fight will be three rounds.

    Bassil Hafez by unanimous decision!

  • Gall vs Hafez – Round Three

    Gall looks like the fresher fighter in round three but he is physically showing more damage as blood pours down his face.

    Both fighters swing for the fences halfway through the round as they are all putting it on the line!

    Hafez quickly stops the slugfest and takes Gall down to the ground and racks u some control time but Gall fights back and brings the fight back to the feet.

    What a fight and showing by Gall after a two-year absence this one will head to the scorecards.

  • Gall vs Hafez – Round Two

    Gall ended round one with a flurry of punches and some confidence but it seems like that confidence has dissipated.

    Hafez has dominated this round consistently connecting on right and left hooks.

    Hafez has pressured all of round two and has corned Gall multiple times.

    Gall lands a takedown but Hafez quickly gets up and stops the momentum.

  • Gall vs Hafez - Round One

    Hafez is easily outboxing Gall on the feet and has him hurt pretty badly already early in this one.

    Gall is bleeding from his nose and looks like the slower fighter as he continues to eat punches.

    Gall survives the first round but it's not looking good for him in this one.

  • Mickey Gall vs. Bassil Hafez is up last on early prelims

    Mickey Gall returns to the octagon for the first time since April of 2022.

    Gall enters the bout with a record of 7-5 while Hafez enters with a record of 8-4-1.

    This will be a three-round fight in the welterweight division.
