French Open final 2024 LIVE RESULT: Carlos Alcaraz BEATS Alexander Zverev to claim title in five-set thriller – reaction

CARLOS ALCARAZ has BEATEN Alexander Zverev to claim the 2024 French Open title.

It was a close affair, but the Spaniard edged the fifth set at Roland Garros to become the youngest man to win a major final on all three surfaces.

And Alcaraz will go home £2million richer following his French Open triumph.

    "We need Alcaraz more than anything in our sport right now. He needs to keep winning majors every year.

    "If he does that he'll change our sport in many ways because he's such a breath of fresh air, his smiling is great and he's humble. This is great for professional tennis."

    Alcaraz said: "First of all I want to congratulate Zverev for a great tournament.

    "Then my team, it has been incredible the last month. We had a lot of doubts before the tournament. We're a family."
