Marital bliss

Daisy and Joe tied the knot on June 24, 2017, and the rugby star has since revealed that Daisy's support keeps him going.

Speaking about juggling parenthood and rugby, he told FQ Magazine: "My wife, Daisy, is very good at helping me balance the two.

“Sometimes the team has double-days and I need to get an early night, a decent shut eye.

“So she’ll do the night shift with the kids.”

Although the couple try and keep their family life out of the public eye, they do occasionally share snaps together online.

In August 2024, Joe took his family of six for a fun day out at Camp Bestival in Dorset.

He shared several heartwarming pictures of the children beaming with joy during their outing.

Being branded a "moron"

Joe has been the focus of several controversies, including a 10-week ban after grabbing Alun Wyn Jones by the genitals.

He made headlines again after he was branded a "moron" by his wife for calling a Jake Heenan's mother a "f****** w****".

Jake's mother was battling cancer at the time.

Daisy labelled her husband a "moron" after he branded a rival's mother a "f***ing w****".

The Bristol flanker could be heard saying on referee Karl Dickson's microphone: "Karl, Karl, my mum is in hospital."

Marler, 32, was slapped with a two-week ban by the RFU with a further four suspended after a disciplinary panel reviewed the footage.

He apologised on social media for his "p*** poor" remark and was said to have reached out to Heenan personally.

The rugby player has explained himself on his own podcast - reiterating his regret at his words and the reaction from his own spouse Daisy.

Joe said: "Daisy turned round to me and she said, 'You're an idiot, aren't you? You're just a moron.'

"I said, 'What do you mean? I thought you were meant to defend me.'

"And she said, 'Why am I defending you?

"That's not even a funny attempt.

"Why don't you just stop doing it?

"Or, if you feel the need to do it, just don't bring family members into it.

"You never know what's going on in people's lives and it doesn't mean it's not going to affect other people.'

"I said, 'You're absolutely spot on.'"

Marler described his antics as "fake tough-guy stuff" and added: "We always have a choice - it's about what I can do to make this good for me moving forward."

The star has been open about his mental health battle and fronted the Sky Sports documentary show Big Boys Don't Cry.
