FILIP-ING HELL

Joe Joyce vs Filip Hrgovic LIVE RESULTS: Juggernaut in BLOODY clash as career HANGS IN BALANCE after yet another defeat

JOE JOYCE is now facing HUGE questions over his future after a crushing defeat to Filip Hrgovic in Manchester.

The Juggernaut, 39, suffered a fourth loss in his last five fights with Hrgovic taking a unanimous decision.

Late replacement Hrgovic looked good as he tries to get back into world title contention - but Joyce will now hear calls to retire given his age and recent record.

On a stacked bill at the Co-Op Arena, David Adeleye won the British heavyweight title after a hugely controversial win over Jeamie TKV - with the ref seemingly grabbing TKV's hand before Adeleye got the finish.

  • Majid vs Murphy – R2

Some big right hands come in over the top by Majid.

His speed and accuracy is the difference maker at the moment with one right hand snapping Murphy's head back.

But the pace is red hot after two rounds - really good opening bout.

  • Majid vs Murphy - R1

Really tight round with not much to split them.

Great jabs landing and snapping the heads back but Majid landed a couple of eye-catching counter right hands.

One just at the end of the round might have been enough to see him take it on the judges cards.

  • Kicking things off

Real good 140lb clash coming up between Khaleel Majid and Alex Murphy.

Majid is 14-0 while Murphy is 13-0. Not many knockouts between them but an evenly-matched bout to kick things off.

  • Tribute to Sun legend

Frank Warren paid classy tribute to SunSport legend and former boxing correspondent Colin Hart.

Harty sadly passed this month aged 89 and Warren paid respects to his good friend.

  • Barney-Smith wins

Easy work for the super-featherweight who takes all eight rounds and his record improves to 14-0.

The main card is now due to start next - so stay with SunSport for all the updates through the night.

  • Having a Barney

Royston Barney-Smith has cruised past seven of his eight rounds against Cesar Ignacio Paredes.

Barney-Smith has dominated throughout but has not really put much of a dent in his journeyman opponent.

  • Less friendly

While that exchange was quite fun and friendly, it has been much less so between David Adeleye and Jeamie TKV.

The pair, who fight for the vacant British heavyweight title, had to be separated after they conducted an interview on TalkSPORT before TKV flipped a TABLE during more fireworks during the press conference.

  • Just a number

This isn't the first time Joyce and Hrgovic are meeting inside the ring - Joyce beat the Croatian as an amateur in 2013.

There was a funny moment during the press conference earlier this week, when Hrgovic made a gag about Joyce's age.

    Hrgovic said: “Man’s, he’s 40 years old."

But Joyce hit back: “Actually, 39. But near enough.”

    Hrgovic, 32, said with a smile: “Okay, I didn’t know. If he’s 39 then he’s young.

“I thought you were 40. But, look, he’s definitely not at the peak of his career and fighters get old and that’s just the reality.

"I’m seven years younger and I think it’s going to play a role in this fight.”

  • Easy work

Mark Chamberlain's fight has already come and gone - the super-lightweight took on Miguel Scaringi in a fight that, strangely, went without TV coverage.

He is on the comeback trail after his September loss to Josh Padley at Wembley Stadium, but looked very comfortable against Scaringi.

Chamberlain won all 8 rounds to move to 17-1.

  • Lovely touch

We'd like to extend our thanks to Frank Warren and Queensberry Promotions for honouring our long-serving colleague Colin Hart.

The Voice of Boxing died aged 89 in late March after decades with the paper.

He first joined the team when The Sun launched in 1969 and continued to write columns until just weeks before his death.

Colin covered hundreds of world title fights, watching the likes of Muhammad Ali, George Foreman, Mike Tyson - as well as all the recent greats - at close quarters.

At the event tonight, Queensberry reserved a seat for Colin with a scarf of his beloved West Ham draped around it, as well as a copy of the newspaper.

The post read: "Tonight we pay tribute to Hall of Fame boxing journalist, Colin Hart."

  • Full card

Here's the full card from the Co-Op Arena, a couple of the early fights have already ended.

    • Joe Joyce vs Filip Hrgovic
    • David Adeleye vs Jeamie 'TKV' Tsikeva - for vacant British heavyweight title
    • Jack Rafferty vs Cory O'Regan - for Commonwealth super-lightweight title
    • Khaleel Majid vs Alex Murphy
    • Juergen Uldedaj vs Gerardo Mellado
    • Royston Barney-Smith vs Cesar Paredes
    • Mark Chamberlain vs Miguel Scaringi
    • Delicious Orie vs Milos Veletic
    • Nelson Birchall KO Rodrigo Areco
    • Alfie Middlemiss PTS Alexander Morales
    • Ramtin Musah PTS Robbie Chapman
  • Stacked card

Apart from the main event we've got a very intriguing card.

Highly-rated heavyweight prospect Delicious Orie - who was part of Team GB last summer - makes his professional debut against Milos Veletic.

We also have Turki Alalshikh's favourite fighter, Mark Chamberlain, in action, as well as a Commonwealth title fight between Jack Rafferty and Cory O'Regan.

The chief supporting act is for the vacant British heavyweight title between David Adeleye and Jeamie 'TKV' Tshikeva.

There has been a lot of bad blood between those two in the build-up and we're expecting fireworks.

  • Here we go!

We've got a MASSIVE night of boxing in store in Manchester.

Both Joe Joyce and Filip Hrgovic are at major crossroads in their careers - Hrgovic after a battering at the hands of Daniel Dubois last year and Joyce having now suffered three losses in his last four.

Aged 39, there will be calls for Joyce to retire should he lose again tonight.
