UFC 314 – Paddy Pimblett vs Michael Chandler LIVE RESULTS: The Baddy WINS bloody brawl, Volkanovski beats Lopes

PADDY PIMBLETT defeated Michael Chandler with a merciless performance, earning the greatest victory of his UFC career to date.

Liverpool's favourite "Paddy The Baddy" dominated the UFC 314 co-main event in Miami early on Sunday morning, delivering a stunning victory to propel him into the top 10 of the lightweight rankings and maybe serve as a pivotal moment in his quest for a world title.

The fight served as the main support act for the big fight between Alexander Volkanovski and Diego Lopes for the men's featherweight title, which Volk won to reclaim the title he had held for almost four years before losing it to Ilia Topuria.

Legendary four-time Bellator world champion Patricio Pitbull lost his eagerly anticipated UFC debut against Mexico's Yair Rodriguez.

Recap all the action and latest reaction to an incredible night in Miami below

  • What next for Chandler?

Michael Chandler's future is looking somewhat bleak after defeat to Paddy Pimblett.

His record in his last three outings stands at:

    ❌ Paddy Pimblett
    ❌ Charles Oliveira
    ❌Dustin Poirier

One wonders where the near 39-year-old goes from here.

  • Is Volkanovski the Featherweight GOAT?

With this legacy-defining win over Diego Lopes, Volkanovski is once again the undisputed feather champion.

Not only did he just beat a top prospect in the division, but he also made history by becoming the first fighter over the age of 35 to claim gold in a division at or below 155lbs.

Before this result the previous record was 0-17.

The Australian also gained his seventh title victory at 145lbs, putting him just one win behind Jose Aldo’s record of eight.

  • A special mention to Amanda Nunes

Also at UFC 314 in Miami, during the main card it was announced that Amanda Nunes will be inducted into the UFC hall of fame this summer.

Nunes is highly regarded as the greatest women's MMA fighter of all time - so this was just a matter of time.

During her time in the UFC, she went on a 12-fight winning streak which spanned over 6 years in the promotion, she also became the first woman in UFC history to hold two belts at once.

And after retiring in 2023, she has now been inducted into the 'modern wing' of the Hall of Fame.

  • What should the featherweight champion do next?

After that fantastic victory, there is now much speculation on what Volkanovski should do next.

With the Australian being the dominant champion for four years, the 36-year-old has fought many of the contenders already in the featherweight division.

With Topuria moving up a weight class and Volk already having three wins over Holloway, the attention now goes to Movsar Evloev.

Ranked at the number four spot, many fans believe the Russian hasn't done quite enough to earn himself a title shot.

Who do you think Volkanovski should fight next?

  • Alexander Volkanovski vs Diego Lopes – Round 5

A nice combination for Volkanovski to start the fifth.

After landing a low kick, the Australian goes upstairs and lands a flush right hand to the chin.

Volk attempts a takedown, but with both men sweaty and slippery, Lopes is able to defend it with ease.

The former champ has used his footwork well, circling the octagon, with Lopes being constantly frustrated.

But it's the jab from the 36-year-old that keeps on landing.

The buzzer sounds and both men feel like they have done enough to win the fight.

We now wait for the judge's scorecards.

  • Alexander Volkanovski vs Diego Lopes – Round 4

    More big punches landed!

Both men are eager to land the killer blow, often getting too close to each other with their looping hooks.

Lopes has answered incredibly well in this third round.

After Volk seemingly in control of the fight, that final sequence in the last round has made the fight all more intense.

This fight could go either way entering the championship rounds.

  • Alexander Volkanovski vs Diego Lopes – Round 2

Huge right hand at the end of the round!

In what was another great round Lopes lands a big right hand that drops the former champion.

The 36-year-old is looking like the dominant champion he was not that long ago.

He lands a flush straight hand on Lopes who stumbles backwards but Volk decides to attempt a takedown that is stuffed by the Brazilian.

But after that final sequence, it's difficult to say who won the round there.

  • Alexander Volkanovski vs Diego Lopes - Round 1

With huge stakes on the line you can feel the tense atmosphere of the crowd.

The Australian looks like a man on a mission, it very much appears the Volkanovski of old is back.

The former champ is looking strong out there, controlling both the striking and grappling exchanges.

Lopes looking slightly tentative out there, we'll see if he becomes more confident as time goes on.

  • Main event time!

It's now time to crown a new UFC Featherweight champion as Alexander Volkanovski faces Diego Lopes.

After difficult losses to Makhachev and Topuria, the Australian has returned in phenomenal shape as he looks to get his belt back.

But in his way is surging superstar Diego Lopes - who is one of the UFC's hottest prospects.

The Mexican joined the fight promotion less than two years ago and has become a must-watch fighter.

With wins over Sodiq Yusuff at UFC 300 and Brian Ortega at UFC Sphere, he soon became a fan favorite across the world.

This is going to be a very high-level fight with fans unsure of which way it'll go.

  • Paddy Pimblett wins by TKO

    Oh my goodness.

That was an incredible showing by Paddy Pimblett.

A huge flying knee in the beginning of the round splits Chandlers face up, leading to blood gushing out of his face.

He then goes into a huge takedown as he physically dominates the American on the floor.

He then sends down huge ground and pound that forces the referee to step in.

With Chandler closing the distance he decides to go for the takedown on the Jiu-Jitsu specialist.

After standing back up, the Liverpudlian decides to pull guard but chandler manages to stand up.

A good round from Pimblett who is showing that he doesn't look out of place against top contenders.

  • Co-main event time!

Now this is gonna be good, in what fans are calling a potential fight of the year contender, Paddy Pimblett faces Michael Chandler.

Paddy keeps proving his doubters wrong, with him now being 6-0 in the UFC.

He last fought King Green in July, Submitting the UFC veteran in the first round.

He faces one of the most exciting fighters in the UFC, 'Iron' Michael Chandler.

Chandler's record in the UFC doesn't look great with it being 2-4, however, there is no doubt that every time he steps into the octagon he puts on a show for the fans.

This is gonna be a good one folks!

After what we thought was going to be a close fight, Rodriguez proves his doubters wrong with a unanimous victory that no one can contest.

He looked most impressive in that third round which almost saw him win by TKO.

But Pitbull was resilient and proves why the UFC still signed him at 37.

All three judges scored the contest 30-27.
