Chelsea star Enzo Fernandez’s ‘playing with one eye’ post explained after fans left confused

CHELSEA star Enzo Fernandez has finally revealed what he meant after claiming he played against Manchester United with ONE eye.

The Argentine helped the Blues to a 1-0 win over stragglers United as team-mate Marc Cucurella's second-half header settled Friday night's game.

But Fernandez said on Instagram that he had to do it with impaired vision despite not revealing anymore details on his apparent injury.

He posted: "Last match at home with this group that will give it all until the end, we have two finals left.

"Thank you to the fans for the support all the season. My first game playing with one eye."

It left Blues fans scratching their heads as one said: "What does that mean?"

Another asked: "What actually happened to his eye?"

A third said: "One eye?..... I'm confused."

However, the has now revealed that Fernandez has been suffering from conjunctivitis.

The World Cup winner has played Chelsea’s last two matches with an inflamed right eye.

And Fernandez started to feel symptoms before playing in last week’s 2-0 defeat at Newcastle, with the conjunctivitis lasting into Friday’s win against United.

Fernandez has been a staple in Enzo Maresca's midfield this season, with seven goals in his 44 games this season.

Only left-back Cucurella has played more Chelsea games - with 46 - as Maresca touted Fernandez to improve next term.

He said: "I think he scores goals, but he also, in terms of assists, has important numbers.

"I don’t have any doubts that starting next season from the first game, he can improve his numbers even more."

Chelsea's win puts them fourth and in the ascendancy for Champions League football next season.

Meanwhile, United labour in 16th and broke a club record for EIGHT Prem matches without a win.
