The goalscorer, draped in a Wales flag at the end of the match, added: "[The final few minutes were] horrible. I couldn't watch.

"I was listening to what the boys were saying, asking how long was left.

"When we defended that corner at the end, I kind of knew. The relief is nothing I can describe.

"Tottenham Hotspur finishing 17th in the Premier League isn't good enough, but we've had an unbelievable Europa run and the fans have been so good.

"I thought they had the edge on the United fans, to be honest... it got us through the game.

"He [Postecoglou] has done his job. If there's ever a time for a mic drop, it's now so I'll be looking forward to his interview.

"I can't thank the manager enough for how much trust he's had in us... especially in the Europa League, he had a great way of getting everyone up for it and it shows."

  • 'It means so much'

Matchwinner Brennan Johnson was absolutely BUZZING when he was interviewed by TNT Sports.

He said: "I'm so happy right now. This season hasn't been good, but not one of us players cares right now.

"This is what it's all about... it means so much.

"All the fans get battered, we get battered for not winning a trophy, but to get the first one in a while today, I'm so happy.

"Ever since I came here, it's been 'Tottenham are a good team but never get it done'. We got it done.

"I knew I touched it [for the goal] and then I looked up and the ball was trickling into the goal.

    "I can't describe the feeling."

  • Why does it always rain on me?

Ruben Amorim looks a devastated man after this defeat.

After a woeful season, it was more of the same in the final tonight.

Things are not going to plan for the former Sporting Lisbon manager.

  • Red Devils fail to deliver

Despite having most of the ball in the second-half but created so little.

Even the saves Vicario had to made, they were all fairly routine.

Man Utd lacked hunger, quality and the passion to get their hands on the trophy this evening.

  • Man Utd 0-1 Tottenham

90+6. Man Utd just cannot penetrate Spurs at all.

Yoro shoots from 25 yards out and sends it sailing into the stands.

All looking way too desperate from Amorim's side.

  • Man Utd 0-1 Tottenham

90+4. Man Utd are looking like they could play until the weekend and not create a goalscoring chance.

It has been a woeful display from the Red Devils.

The final itself has not been the classic we hoped for, this looks like 16th versus 17th place in all fairness.

  • Man Utd 0-1 Tottenham

90+2. Lindelof is booked for Man Utd.

That takes some doing when he is not even on the pitch.

This is make of break time for Spurs now, that trophy is almost within touching distance.

Maguire is shown a yellow card for the Red Devils.

  • Man Utd 0-1 Tottenham

  • Man Utd 0-1 Tottenham

    82. Crosses are coming in from the Red Devils but there is never anyone attacking the six yard box.

It is fair to say they just do not have anyone in their squad with that striker's instinct.

Spurs look to break but Son is dispossessed in the box with a good sliding tackle.

  • View from SunSport's Dave Courtnadge in Bilbao

United fans are very quiet and, despite the awful season, maybe can't believe how bad their team are tonight.

As for Spurs, they're making all the noise and loving this - they probably can't believe how easy it is.

Whatever the opposite of Ange Ball is, they are playing it, and it's working.

United fans will be praying those two substitutions work.

And that they have another late, great show in the Europa League.

At this rate, it doesn't look likely.

  • Man Utd 0-1 Tottenham

    80. Time is starting to run out for the Red Devils.

They are having to throw more players forward more and more.

It offers a great chances for Tottenham to counter and get that all-important second goal.

  • Man Utd 0-1 Tottenham

    78. Shaw looks to drive towards the box.

Porro lunges in and the Man Utd defendr goes down.

The referee awards a goal kick but the replay shows that should have be a stonewall free-kick, just outside the box in a wide position.

  • Man Utd 0-1 Tottenham

    76. Garnacho runs at Tottenham and cuts inside onto his right.

He lets fly and Vicario manages to get down and somehow to get it wide of the goal.

Despite the save, it almost caught him out as it bounced in front of him.

  • Man Utd 0-1 Tottenham

    74. Massive chance for Man Utd.

Amad puts a great cross into the box and finds an unmarked Fernandes in the middle.

He sends his header narrowly wide when he should have been hitting the target at the very least.

  • Man Utd 0-1 Tottenham

    72. Amorim makes his first changes of the final.

Mount and Hojlund are the players to make way.

Zirkzee and Garnacho join the action.
