So Spurs lead at half-time thanks to a scrappy Brennan Johnson goal (Luke Shaw will be relieved it was awarded to the Tottenham man).
And the way Son ran on to the pitch at the end of the half to congratulate his team-mates you'd think it was full-time.
You couldn't blame him for thinking, 'As long as we stop Amad we've got this in the bag'.
And he may be right as United have looked pretty toothless, with Hojlund sticking to type and Bruno not making the most of a few half chances.
If Spurs cut out the sloppy mistakes at the back, and United don't step this up, Tottenham's trophy wait will be over.
And all their fans still wondering how they'll get back to North London from Bilbao will now have to be there for Friday's parade.
I'm sure they'll find a way.

From SunSport's Dave Courtnadge in Bilbao
Midway through the first half and both sides have tried at times to justify the Donkey Derby tag with some calamitous defending.
As you might expect though from two teams just above the Premier League's drop zone, neither side has been good enough to capitalise.
Feels like there is a goal coming, though, purely based on the law of very average defending.
Both sets of fans still believe though and the noise levels have only just dropped below deafening.
When that goal comes, you'll be able to hear it in London and Manchester.
