Fulham vs Man City preview

The Premier League campaign reaches its climax on Sunday as Fulham welcome Manchester City to Craven Cottage.

And unexpectedly, there's something on the line with the visitors still looking to confirm European football next season.

Pep Guardiola's Manchester City will finish outside the top two for the first time since the 2016-17 campaign - but Champions League qualification looks virtually assured.

The Cityzens are sat in third position with a two-point cushion and a healthy goal difference advantage over their rivals following their midweek victory over Bournemouth.

City will therefore need just a point to confirm a top-five finish, while victory would secure third place.

History suggests they'll do just that having won each of their last 17 meetings with Fulham in all competitions - the longest winning run one English league side has had against another in history.

Fulham have won just one of their 16 Premier League home games against Manchester City and are winless in 19 Premier League meetings, losing the last 14 in a row.

However, motivation to overturn that record could be lacking with Fulham now longer able to finish in eighth position. The Cottagers simply ran out of steam in the closing stages of the campaign having lost FIVE of their last eight league matches.

But overall it's been a largely positive campaign for Marco Silva's side, and they'll want to finish with a flourish to confirm a top-ten finish.

We expect Manchester City to continue their outstanding H2H record against Fulham on Sunday.

As mentioned, Manchester City have won each of their last 17 meetings with Fulham in all competitions and have won their final Premier League game in nine of the last 11 seasons.

Fulham, meanwhile, beat Luton 4-2 on the final day last season, having failed to win their last league game in any of the six previous seasons (D1 L5).
