WWE Raw results: Paige is back and targeting world title, Matt Hardy is Broken and Brock Lesnar needs a Royal Rumble rival

Matt Hardy is now officially 'broken' and involved in a crazy rivalry with Bray Wyatt and Cedric Alexander is the new 205 star

There were big questions on Raw last night: Would Paige dominate the women’s division again?

And who would be named number one contender to Brock Lesnar’s title? Here are five important things we learnt from the show.

Paige finally got what she’s been asking for

After two weeks of running roughshod, Paige and her Absolution cronies all but own the Raw women’s division.

And last night started well for them, with Paige and Mandy Rose beating Bayley and Mickie James in tag team action.

But there’s still one woman who stands between Paige and total domination – Asuka.

Later in the night, Absolution came down to beat down Asuka – what Paige has apparently wanted all along – but the entire women’s locker room ran out to stop them.

It ended with Paige and Absolution scarpering from the ring after getting the comeuppance they deserve.

The Shield has a new six-man war on its hands

Samoa Joe opened the show by calling out Roman Reigns – which quickly turned into a scrap between The Shield and Samoa Joe and The Bar.

Later, Seth Rollins beat Sheamus in singles competition, Roman Reigns beat Cesaro, and Dean Ambrose lost to Samoa Joe.

The Ambrose and Rollins v The Bar feud feels done to death already, but with Roman Reigns and Samoa Joe thrown into the mix, expect this to continue until Royal Rumble.

Matt Hardy knows Sister Abigail

Hardy and Bray Wyatt had another bonkers war of words, as the pair went back and forth with pre-recorded promos.

But the big revelation was that Hardy has known Sister Abigail for yonks.

He said: “The soul of Sister Abigail has existed for eternities. We’ve crossed paths before, yes.”

Hardy says he will use his “woken wisdom and broken brilliance” (yes, he actually said “broken”) to defeat Wyatt.

Bray should do all his promos with Hardy. It’s the most interesting his banter has been since Sister Abigail was in pigtails several eternities ago.

WWE has found a replacement for Rich Swann

With Rich Swann suspended by WWE for his arrest at the weekend (don’t expect to see Swann back in WWE) it needed a new challenger for the Cruiserweight Championship.

A Fatal 4-Way was booked – Tony Nese v Cedric Alexander v Mustafa Ali v Ariya Daivari – with the winner facing Drew Gulak next week to name the number one contender.

Cedric looked dynamite in the fast-paced match and hit Daivari with his Lumbar Check finisher to get the win.

Could these unforeseen circumstances be Alexander’s chance to step up and take Enzo’s Cruiserweight title?

Lesnar doesn’t have an opponent for the Royal Rumble

The show ended with one more gigantic clash between Braun Strowman and Kane.

But this time, the winner would face Lesnar to the Universal title at the Rumble.

The match ended in a double count-out – but it wasn’t a total waste of time.

After the count-out there was a mega brawl between the behemoths.

The best moment came when Strowman did the Undertaker’s trademark sit-up spot, which sent Kane running scared into the corner.

It ended when Braun hit Kane with a running power slam through a table to a huge pop from the crowd.

But who will face The Beast at Royal Rumble? We’ll know more about what’s happening next week when Lesnar himself appears on Raw.
