WALES are incredibly set to face a Denmark side on Sunday including "futsal" players as the row involving stars including Christian Eriksen escalated.

Reports in the Scandinavian country claim the Danish FA have turned to several stars from the national futsal team - a five-a-side game played indoors on small hard courts with a "dead" ball.

However, negotiations over fees and commercial rights with the first-team have reached deadlock.

The Danish players' union made a second offer to extend their existing contracts but no deal has been struck as yet.

Therefore, the likes of Eriksen and Kasper Schmeichel are not expected to feature against either Slovakia in tomorrow's friendly or Sunday's Nations League clash in Aarhus against Ryan Giggs' side.

And, with the Danish FA unavailable to draft in alternative players from the Superligaen or the first division, they have had to look further afield to fulfil the fixture.

It is believed Avarta of the third tier have two of their players - Christian Offenberg and Morten Bank - in the travelling party for Trnava.

Denmark's current manager Aage Hareide or assistant Jon Dahl Tomasson will not travel to Slovakia with ex-Arsenal midfielder John Jensen brought in as caretaker and Hasse Kuhn as his number two.

Jensen, 53, will also be in charge against Wales, according to Danish FA's elite manager Kim Hallberg.

Hallberg said: "We must hold teams in the two international matches to avoid millions of fines and possible exclusion of the national team for several years.

"On behalf of DBU and Danish football, I am pleased that John Faxe Jensen has taken the hard task of being coach in both matches,

Jensen added: "Where we are now, I see only losers in the conflict, and Danish football loses most of all.

"When I say yes to help here, it's because I feel very very strong for the national team as an institution, and because I think the most important thing must be that the games will be played after all.

"I just hope to help us get through the two matches and that the parties find a solution as soon as possible.

"The national team has meant infinitely much to me in my career and in my life.

"It hurts to follow this course, and I hope my contribution can help mitigate the negative consequences."

Kuhn held a meeting with his new 23-man squad at the Danish FA's headquarters in Brondby on Tuesday lunchtime.

Tottenham ace Eriksen, who is in Copenhagen with his national team-mates, made an appeal to their bosses that they would play against Slovakia under the terms of the old agreement.

A statement from Eriksen via the players' association read: "Let's move on, DBU.

"We again offer a temporary extension of the old agreement - and then we travel to Slovakia today.

"All in all, the whole national team. Together we enter the agreement, and together we save the face of Danish football.

"We are right here and want to play football for Denmark - as always.

"We have to solve this conflict now, not just digging the ditches deeper.

"So we're happy to stretch our hand again, even though DBU put it away in the first try: Let's renew the old deal by one month.

"Then we have organised relationships right now and we are prepared to play the international matches this week.

"And then we have time after the two international matches to negotiate the entire agreement in place. It does not make sense if DBU does not accept that offer.

"The agreement has been working for years and should only run one month longer. Sign up and we will sit on the plane immediately. We are ready and we will play.

"We could all be home in our clubs who pay our wages - at home by our wives and children. There is only one reason why we are here - and it's not money.

"We are here because we love to play for Denmark.

"We are proud of the many millions children we play for and the breadth of Danish football, and the work we do for the whole of Danish football - for example, making up for DBUs events and for their sponsors, as we have always done."

Thomas Delaney supported Eriksen's stance in a statement.

It read: "Come on, DBU - we're right here. We want to play for Denmark.

"That is why we have all travelled home to Denmark.

"We do not understand that DBU will not negotiate. "Do not even want to talk to us.

"Why does DBU use time and lots of effort to find alternative players?

"Why not negotiate and get a new deal? We can not waste time.

"We want to play, and the DBU ransacks and looks for an alternate national team.

"DBU is a huge organisation compared to us players - should there still be people left to negotiate? "Maybe even some who have the mandate to enter into an agreement?

"Where is DBU - and why do not we talk together?

"We wanted to negotiate this weekend get a new deal, DBU would not talk to us.

"We offered a one month extension so we could play in peace and peace - the DBU said no.

"There is no pretext of our pride to ask again: Can we not extend an extension in just a month?

"Frankly, DBU - let's talk together as grown-ups."

Denmark's training at the Antonia Malatinskeho Stadium in Slovakia scheduled for Tuesday evening has been cancelled while Jensen will hold a press conference.
