Real Betis fans throw hundreds of toys on the pitch for charity

The Spanish club encouraged fans to bring stuffed toys so that they could be distributed to children-in-need and underprivileged families, fans duly obliged

REAL BETIS fans were well and truly in the spirit of giving as they threw hundreds of toys on the pitch at their final game of the season, all in the name of charity.

The La Liga side drew 1-1 at home against Eibar, but it was the off-field antics that got everyone talking about the club.

The Spanish club gave away their one goal lead in the 70th minute when they gifted Eibar a penalty, but fans remained in high spirits.

Following an appeal before the match the 60,000 fans in attendance were encouraged to bring stuffed toys and lob them onto the pitch.

Fans brought toys in their droves and threw the stuffed animals on the pitch for children-in-need.

The club are on a drive to help communities in their region and disadvantaged families will benefit from the teddy bears this Christmas.

In order to get their fans well and truly in the festive spirit, Real Betis dished out green Christmas hats to "complete the festive atmosphere."

The club currently sit in sixth place and have vowed to continue their quest to sit in the top of the standings in the New Year.

Real Betis' draw today extended their unbeaten run to six games.

The Spanish club even dished Barcelona a surprise blow when they beat them 4-3 earlier this season.

The heart warming gesture has been carried out at stadiums across Europe over the last few years.

Last year fans in Belgium threw hundreds of cuddly toys onto the pitch as early Christmas presents for children with disabilities.
