Tottenham line up Ajax ace Frenkie De Jong to replace Christian Eriksen if Dane joins Real Madrid
Spurs have contacted the youngster's agent reassuring him they will match the current highest bid if their ace leaves for Los Blancos in a £100m move

TOTTENHAM will make a move for Ajax wonderkid Frenkie De Jong if Real Madrid land Spurs star Christian Eriksen in the summer, according to reports.
The 21-year-old Dutch will be sold to the highest bidder at the end of the season with Paris Saint-Germain thought to be leading the race.
Eriksen has been linked with a £100million move to Los Blancos, and the Dane only fuelled speculations by saying Tottenham “know what he wants” as he failed to rule out the move.
And report that, should Mauricio Pochettino loses his star this summer, Spurs will break the bank on a new midfielder with De Jong topping their wish-list.
Tottenham have reportedly contacted the Ajax ace’s agent Ali Dursun, reassuring him the North London club will match the current highest bid for De Jong.
Spurs compete for the signature of the Dutch star, currently earning £10,000 per week, with Manchester City, Barcelona, and Paris Saint-Germain – who are reportedly in pole position to sign the starlet.
The French champs told Ajax they would pay £67million for De Jong and the transfer looked all but complete, however, the youngster denied the deal had been finalised.
Tottenham hope Daniel Levy’s close ties with Ajax director Mark Overmars will help tip the scale in their favour.
Spurs have made several business transactions with the Dutch side in recent years, including transfers of Jan Vertonghen, Davinson Sanchez and Erisken himself.
Tottenham want to bolster their squad to keep Pochettino content in order to persuade him to snub Manchester United, who have made the Argentine coach their first choice to take over at Old Trafford from next season.
De Jong has scored four goals and assisted one in 15 Eredivisie games for Ajax this season.
He has been labelled as a hybrid of former Barcelona midfielders Xavi and Deco by his manager Erik ten Hag, but the Spanish World Cup winner thinks De Jong's playing style reminds him more of Sergio Busquets.
