KEN DOHERTY thanked action hero Jackie Chan for the beating he gave Mark Williams in the China Open.
The Irishman revealed a bizarre night out drinking and singing with the Hollywood actor, 64, gave him the confidence to KO reigning world champion Williams 6-4 in Beijing.
Doherty, 49, now plays Ricky Walden in the second round of the last event before the Crucible.
The 1997 world champ said: “Jackie Chan is one of my heroes.
“I was invited to have dinner with him at a charity night.
“We went out and sang karaoke. He’s a good singer. And then we played a few games of snooker.
“I showed him some trick shots. We played doubles together. He’s great company.
“Just like he is on screen. He loves a good laugh, loves a cigar, a drink and sing-along – just like the Irish.
“He even performed a few trick shots himself.
“I have to say it was one of the best and funniest nights out I have ever had.
“Thank you, Jackie Chan for inspiring me to win today.”
World No.6 Judd Trump was beaten 6-5 by fellow Englishman Robbie Williams, who is ranked 64th in the world.
John Higgins lost 6-2 to England's world No.84 Joe O'Connor despite being 2-0 up.
