Bellew came to the defence of AJ immediately after he had his WBA, WBO and IBF titles ripped away, as he claimed his compatriot had no fear against Ruiz Jr.

And he has blasted Wilder after the Bronze Bomber took to social media to claim that Joshua wasn't a "true champion" and his career has been built on "lies".

Speaking to , Bellew said: "You shouldn’t write anyone off, and I think it’s disgraceful there are people out there kicking a man when he’s down.

"This is probably the most humble and honest kid I’ve ever met in boxing."

While he also fired a warning to the WBC heavyweight champion not to write off Joshua as he tipped him to bounce back in style.

He added: "Everybody gets hurt in boxing. There is not a fighter alive who has ever put gloves on who hasn’t been hurt.

“Yes there are issues to address, but every fighter has weaknesses and I’m sure he will address them.

“One thing he’s got going for him is he is a fantastic athlete. He’s the best athlete in the heavyweight division – that goes without saying.

"So we shouldn’t write AJ off.”

Joshua is expected to face Ruiz Jr in a rematch later this year after invoking a clause in his contract.
