Wimbledon 2019: Disrespectful serves, umpire abuse and sneezing fits… bad boy Kyrgios’ amazing antics in Nadal classic

WE knew Nick Kyrgios vs Rafael Nadal would be the headline show today - we didn't realise quite how much of a blockbuster it would be.
It is plain to see the pair respect each other's tennis ability... but that is about it.
Kyrgios has previously labelled Nadal "boring".
There was no chance of nodding off during this utterly ridiculous match of tennis, gamesmanship and pure emotion which Nadal won 6-3 3-6 7-6 7-6.
Once again, the controversial Aussie - who was at the pub until 11pm the night before - was up to his usual tricks from underarm serves to HITTING his opponent.
But this was spectacular, even by his standards.
So what did he do?
We all know Kyrgios has an almighty serve. But to record the fastest serve of the tournament at a staggering 143mph and upstage the likes of John Isner, Ivo Karlovic and Milos Raonic is no mean feat.
But that doesn't tell half the story... he did it on a second serve!
Just three points later, he threw in what we were all waiting for... an underarm serve.
And it worked, catching Nadal off guard to secure the game and was cheered by the crowd.
He then did it again later on, to Rafa's annoyance, as the Spaniard dumped a routine forehand into the net. And this time it was met with a chorus of boos.
When Nadal put the ball over the Australian's head midway through the first set, it was time for the first tweener of the match.
And sure enough, Kyrgios did not disappoint, playing the ball with his back to the court through his legs.
So often these shots sail out, but he managed to keep it in play... only for Rafa to smash the ball away.
The underarm serves did not endear the Aussie to the Centre Court crowd - not that he will care one iota.
As he made his way back to his chair, Kyrgios was booed by the fans inside the arena, joining an elite list including Novak Djokovic and David Cameron.
Just to clarify, an underarm serve is a perfectly legal shot within the laws of tennis.
As Nadal was preparing to take a second serve, Kyrgios had to halt him - although this time it was nothing intentional.
He suddenly came over with a sneezing fit.
Hayfever, hey. Happens to the best of us!
Kyrgios was far-from pleased about the length of time Rafa was taking to get ready to receive - play should be at the server's pace.
So after a long argument with the chair umpire at the change of ends, the 24-year-old deliberately took an age to get ready and earned himself a code violation... which he duly contested.
Yes. that's right.
The Australian then decided to call the umpire a "disgrace" for the way he was officiating.
In his press conference, he continued the attack on Damien Dumusois, saying he was "horrendous" and wanted to feel important sat in the high chair.
When he had the chance to go for a well-crafted pass, Kyrgios decided to smack a forehand in the direction of Rafa.
He missed and the ball flew well beyond the baseline.
Kyrgios would not make the same mistake twice and so the next opportunity that came his way, he whacked the ball right at Nadal's body, with the Spaniard blocking it away with his racquet.
Nadal stared. Kyrgios walked off. No apology.
The Aussie said: "Why would I? I won the point. I don't care. Why would I apologise? I was going for him. I'm sure he can take it."
Kyrgios then bizarrely told his opponent to challenge a line call.
Nadal's strike was called long and Kygrios shouted immediately to tell his opponent to challenge.
HawkEye shows the ball was in fact in, and the point was replayed. Bonkers.
Kyrgios put in his fair share of tweeners, some of which went spectacularly wrong.
But arguably his funniest moment came when he messed up at the net, failing to put the point to bed with two volleys.
The second chance was capitalised upon as Nadal came storming in and Kyrgios took evasive action... by running off into the Wimbledon sunset - well towards the front row of the crowd, anyway!
