Gennady Golovkin v Kell Brook scorecards show not one judge had GGG winning when fight was stopped
NOT one judge at ringside had Gennady Golovkin winning when Kell Brook was pulled out of their world middleweight title clash.
Brilliant Golovkin retained his status as the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world in an enthralling toe-to-toe battle that lasted five rounds.
But the official scorecards show none of those scoring the fight though GGG was ahead before Brook's trainer Dominic Ingle threw in the towel.
One judge even had Sheffield star Brook TWO rounds up in the punishing fight that left the British ace with a broken eye socket.
Most observers thought Golovkin's punishing attacks from the opening bell had him well in front - but Canadian Benoit Rousell thought Brook had won three rounds, scoring the Brit 39-37 ahead at the time of the stoppage.
Rousell and Italian Guido Cavalieri both scored Brook winning the opening round even though at one point he looked in danger of being knocked out during one GGG assault.
All three judges scored the second round to Brook before Golovkin impressed everyone with his work in the third.
Rousell and fellow Canadian Craig Metcalf called the fourth round in Brook's favour - meaning he was up on once card and level on the other two when Ingle ended the contest.
