McGregor, 28, became the first fighter to hold two UFC titles in November after beating Eddie Alvarez to add the lightweight belt to his featherweight crown.
But he was forced to 'relinquish' his featherweight title earlier this week, causing a reshuffle of the fight card for the upcoming UFC 206.
Talking to TMZ, Arum said: "I'd jump at the chance if Conor wanted to sign on ... but I would warn him about the huge odds against him.
"It'd be a joke. Floyd would take out McGregor whenever he wanted."
