Arsenal finally top the 2015-16 Premier League table ahead of Leicester – for money made

Gunners can't top Leicester but still hit the jackpot - they're due to rake in £100million from TV and commercial earnings

Arsenal have finished above Leicester in the table in terms of money earned

ARSENAL have finally finished top of the 2015-16 Premier League table – for money earned.

The Gunners bottled it again this season, throwing away a prime chance of grabbing gold after Chelsea and Manchester United fell by the wayside.

Instead, Arsene Wenger’s men collapsed allowing Leicester to run away with the league at odds of 5000/1.

The Emirates side did manage to finish on a high after pipping North London nemeses Tottenham to second place.

But that should come as little consolation to a side boasting the likes of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez.

Now the dust has settled on another what-could-have-been season for the club, the numbers men can tot-up their new riches.

The Gunners are due to rake in £100million from TV and commercial earnings from the campaign, bettering the £93.3m that will be given to the famous Foxes.

Leicester will earn £25m from finishing top of the table for the first time, while Arsenal will take £23.7m for second.

After featuring live on TV 27 times, Arsenal bank a record-breaking £21.8m while Claudio Ranieri’s side were on 15 times and trousered £12.8m.

The club is in deep discussions with Ozil and Sanchez over new big-money contracts so a few extra quid in the coffers will come in handy.

Next year, with the new TV contract kicking in, even the Premier League’s basement club come the end of the season will collect almost £100m.

making the achievements of promoted Championship clubs Burnley and Middlesbrough even more lucrative with Hull or Sheffield Wednesday set to join them via the play-offs.
