GEORGE BEST will be turning in his grave after it emerged Northern Ireland’s players are spending their down time playing board games.

Skipper Steven Davis revealed the sad truth as the Green and White Army prepare for their final Euro 2016 warm-up match against Slovakia tonight.

Bestie spent his career bedding beauty queens and boozing but the current squad have been locked in an Austrian boot camp all week.

Southampton midfielder Davis, 31, said: “We’ve been playing Balderdash. I’m still getting used to the rules.

“It’s been good just to get the boys together.

“You have to try and find ways to relax that work in with the training schedule.”

Northern Ireland boss Michael O’Neill insists time has “flown by” as his players rip it up with a set of dice.

With eight days to their opening Group C game against Poland in Nice, he said: “We’ve had enough to keep the players occupied.

“We’ve got our lovely suits now which everyone loves — we have players sitting playing board games at night and that’s quite refreshing to see that.”

Aaron Hughes will be one player “clubbing” at least — he is on 99 caps and could join the 100 club tonight.

The defender, 36, said: “I try not to think about it. It’s been creeping into my head now and again — the emotion will be immense.”
