New Old Trafford chief Jose Mourinho convinces former England international to stay on until at least June 2017

MICHAEL CARRICK has signed a one-year contract extension at Manchester United.
The former England midfielder, 34, was expected to be one of the first names shipped off this summer.
However, new boss Jose Mourinho is apparently a fan of Carrick's ball-playing, defensive-midfield role.
And Carrick confirmed the new Portuguese boss was an integral factor in him staying at Old Trafford for another 12 months.
The ex-West Ham man said: "This great club has been a part of my life for the past ten years, so I am delighted that this incredible journey is continuing.
"It’s great to have the opportunity to work under Jose Mourinho, who has achieved so much during his managerial career.
"I would like to thank the fans for their unwavering support.
