Leicester legend Emile Heskey urges title-winning hero Jamie Vardy to stay at the King Power Stadium to push side even further

Former England forward hopes the club's star striker stays to write another chapter in one of football's wildest fairytales

LEICESTER legend Emile Heskey wants Jamie Vardy to stick with the Foxes and write another chapter in football's wildest fairytale.

The superstar striker completed his transformation from non-league nobody to England ace after winning the Premier League crown with Claudio Ranieri’s side last season.

He landed a boot deal, a Hollywood movie script and a wife in the process, in an amazing season that has finished in France at Euro 2016.

Arsenal want to sign the former Fleetwood man but ex-England ace Heskey believes he should consider Arsene Wenger’s style – and the lull fellow speedster Theo Walcott is enduring at the Emirates – before his Cinderella story turns into Beauty on the Bench.

Heskey said: “Of course I want to see him stay.

"He’s worked wonders together with the club and the work he and Leicester have done together has won Leicester and him the league and put Leicester and him on the map.

“Everyone in the world is talking about Leicester – in America they are even talking about ‘Lie-Sester’.

“Everyone is talking about them and I think he can become an even bigger star by staying there.

“He has been phenomenal for the team. If he goes to Arsenal, will he play every week? He will play every week at Leicester.

“The way that Leicester play suits the way that Vardy plays, where as Arsenal play more possession football and teams sit back so they don’t have space and you have to be more creative.

“I am not saying Jamie Vardy isn’t creative but that Leicester way suits him more.

“They can offer him football, first-team football week-in-week-out.

“I think he is happy or he would have just gone straight away. I think he is happy with the place, the club, the fans, everything. But he has to have a good think.

“I think Leicester is the best place for him right now. The fans love him, the players love him and everyone loves him in the city. What else do you need?”

What Vardy might need is the belief he could out-do even Disney and win back-to-back titles with a side like the Gunners next season.

Even with the King Power side splashing the cash and keeping their amazing manager and squad together, the former Liverpool man thinks a top-ten finish will be a decent result in their next campaign.

He added: “Top ten would make me more than happy next season, I have heard people say top six but top ten is fine for me.

“Really Leicester should not have won the league last season but they showed the likes of Man City, Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal how to play consistently.

“Regardless of whether you keep the ball or play counter-attacks, it was just how to be consistent. How to put in back-to-back performances.

“They lost three games all season and even with six games to go people thought they would lose but they kept winning and drawing. That takes consistency and mental strength.”
