Arsenal transfer news: Arsenal sign Japanese international Takuma Asano as Mikel Arteta confirms he has moved to Manchester City

The striker scored 20 in all competitions will make the move to North London while Arteta will link up with Pep Guardiola

ARSENAL have a agreed a deal with Sanfrecce Hiroshima to sign Takuma Asano.

The relatively unknown Japanese international, 21, made his club debut at 18 and has impressed in his homeland.

Asano scored 10 goals in 50 league appearances for his club and 20 in all competitions and will make the move to North London.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger said: "Takuma is a talented young striker and very much one for the future.

"He has had an impressive start to his career in Japan and we look forward to him developing over the next couple of years."

His move to the Emirates is still dependent on the completion of a medical and receiving the necessary international clearance.

Asano was also part of the Japan Under-23 side that won the AFC U-23 Championship in 2016.

Meanwhile, Mikel Arteta has confirmed he will join Manchester City.

The Spaniard will link up with Pep Guardiola as part of his coaching staff after announcing his retirement from playing.

He said "I can confirm that I will be leaving Arsenal and retiring to take up a coaching position at Manchester City."

Arteta became a fringe player in the final years of his career at the Emirates.

And the 34-year-old snubbed a chance to work for bitter rivals Tottenham before choosing to move to Manchester.
